On most of my multi-car runs we use FRS [now isn't that a coincidence?] radios set to channel 5 for car-to-car communication.

Whether we caravan to Medina or not, I look forward to running the Sisters on the 7th.
I would definitely be interested in a caravan, I'll see about acquiring a frs radio this week. I was planning on leaving Austin around 630-7 in any case.

RR 335 resurfacing

OBTW, they have started resurfacing the 335, the following video is from today, north end of the 335. I currently would not recommend following too close or trying to run these corners at the speed we usually do...On the other hand, it does present a good drifting opportunity for those who dare... (trying something new with the video, let me know if it won't play)

I have to agree it was beyond crazy. As soon as the tires went to bite down (from breaking or shifting car weight) the gravel gets ripped out and your sliding, but once the weight shifts the other side bites and slides you again. It could be very hazardous with little reward. Now once you get by that section its fine. I would recommend taking this slow unless you like gravel pummeling your car.

Shaun and I lead the Austin caravan last time. I can do it again. We tried to be clever by taking the back roads until we got stuck behind a truck going 20. This time I recommend taking I35.

Also fuck Kerbey Lane, IHOP 4 Lyfe

Edit: actually I might be having to work on Saturday. I'll let you know.

Rain shown in forecast for this weekend. What's the protocol for wet weather on a sister's run?

Sorry to hear that Tuck, I guess we'll catch ya next time. As far as weather goes, the forecast I'm looking at shows 0% chance of rain out there Saturday but if it does happen to rain, we have 2 choices, Formula 1 or NASCAR, run it anyways adapting to the conditions or postpone....My vote is run it anyways and adapt to the conditions, I've run it wet before and it is still fun, just at slower speeds...

See ya Saturday!!

If imminent substantial rain is anticipated as indicated by weather radar....we'd cancel and re-schedule. Check for a post on here before leaving if there is any doubt.

Ran it wet on Memorial Day. Mostly drizzle shizzle which lifted by the afternoon so we had lunch first and then ran clockwise. Just have to be careful not to overdo it on the curves. Unless we have a humongous green blob on the radar Sat. AM, I think we'll be good to go.

Unless it's actively raining, I'm planning to be in the Planet Fitness parking lot [at the Y in Oak Hill] around 0645 with a 0700 departure to Medina. We should arrive there by 0900 in time to get a treat before running the sisters.

I'll bring a route map along with my FRS radio. See you there.

P.S. I see that Rabble may want to lead to the Apple Store. If he posts a kickoff point, let's plan on running with him.

Are you able to make it? If leading to Medina, what's the meet point?

If you can't make it, I'll lead from the "Y" in Oak Hill [see previous post].
