Honestly I've used that touchscreen before on a 2013 Corolla and it's not that amazing. Personally I find it much easier to change the radio with buttons like ours compared to a touchscreen.

Wait, you don't have door lamps in FRS?

If it's the same Toyota Touch & Go system that's already in the euro GT86, touchscreen and buttons are both available for changing stations or songs.

It'd be weird if you didn't. A simple "Mode" and "Seek Previous/Next" button would probably clear up 90% of complaints with the BRZ HU. Most touchscreen HUs have those buttons, I have no idea what Fujitsu Ten was thinking, it's not like there isn't room. The black bezel to the left of the screen is huge and has a small volume knob and three little buttons, there's no reason they couldn't fit a couple more physical buttons there, or move the screen a little to the left and put some buttons and a radio tuning knob on the right hand side of the screen.

FR-S and Premium BRZ have red reflectors in the door, and no vanity lights in the visors.

Only the Limited BRZ has door lamps and vanity lights.

Scion gets touchscreen audio across the board

Quote:
On a constant mission to court younger buyers, Scion will be adding some new in-car technology to its lineup for the 2014 model year. All Scion products will now come standard with a 6.1-inch touchscreen audio head unit that we first saw on the 2014 tC (as shown above).

In standard form, this head unit will feature HD Radio, Bluetooth and auxiliary and USB ports. Opting for the $1,198 BeSpoke Premium system brings navigation, integrated social media apps, geo-located POIs and Aha internet radio.

Other changes announced along with the new touchscreen include new two-tone paint schemes for the 2014 xD, a limited-production iQ and pricing for the 2014 lineup. As shown in the gallery, customers can now choose from silver-on-blue and black-over-grey paint combos. The iQ Monogram gets a burgundy-over-silver paint job with a limited run of just 150 units, and it goes on sale in October starting at $16,520 (not including $755 for destination).

As for the full line pricing, all models have had minor price hikes with the 2014 FR-S up $200, the 2014 xD up $175 and the 2013 xB up $170. Pricing for the redesigned 2014 tC was announced back in May marking the biggest increase for 2014 up $485. Scroll down for Scion's official press release.

Buttons would have been nice...it's one of the reasons I always recommend the Alpine line of touch screens as an upgrade (buttons). I've learned to use the voice commands, it's easier than trying to touch the screen while also enjoying spirited driving.

Can't say I like the looks of that Scion interface though...hope it functions better than it looks.

If the knee pads are less than $100 dealer cost then I might spend a Saturday sipping on some brews and install them.

When I read "knee pads" and "updated price" I was expecting a lot more than a $200 increase.

While I might agree if I were an audiophile, I am more of a "function-o-phile." The new head unit just looks better and has more ease of operation. Add to the fact that its a pnp system, and I see a purchase in my future.

It really depends on what you want. The Scion unit has the OEM look to it, proper fitment into the dash, useful external buttons and knobs without sacrificing screen size, completely plug and play with existing wiring, mic, usb, and aux jack, and fully installs with all working components in about 5 minutes.

So yes, an aftermarket unit might be "better" but there are a lot of advantages to this unit too.
