I'm amazed that the Fiat 500 and the Veloster sold more. Beauty is definitely in the eye of the beholder, personally I find them hideous (especially the Fiat).

Didn't they stop production on the S2000 in 2009?

A big chunk of those are fleet sales..

I hope the twins aren't going to be common cars where I live.

Subaru moved 868 Brz's, their second best month for BRZ sales since inception.

The twins are selling strong. I doubt there will be much 2013 inventory left for September through November when the 14's start arriving in bulk.

I'm not surprised by the Veloster number. I see those damn things everywhere around with their big guppy like front grills.

Here's a rough sketch of Hyundai's next car:

Barely if you add FRS and BRZ sales together. Fiat has been out longer and has better commercials right now. The 500's sales blew chunks out of the gate.

FIAT also sold a bunch to rent a car agencies.

The BRZ/FRS is always going to be a niche car. Thank goodness.

I have been seeing them around as well. I just about see one everyday now. I actually give kudos to Hyundai for being different on the styling, and the car has lots of standard features, for the money (I test drove one). But man that car is horrible to drive. For those of you who think the FRZ is slow, don't drive one of these... The driving dynamics are awful (vague handling, crappy suspension). It is typical Hyundai. They have unique styling (some love it, some hate it), they give you tons of features and options at a good price with good MPG. But they offer poor driving dynamics and a vague transmission and poor handling.

To be fair, even the Veloster turbo is quite a bit cheaper than the FR-S and has much more standard equipment, and even when it's fully loaded comes out to at least $1500 less than the FR-S. The average buyer probably would get more use out of the Veloster. The Veloster isn't sold as a hot hatch but a faster version of the regular car (no suspension mods) and it's built on the decidedly unsporty Elantra platform (Mac struts, torsion beam).

Different cars for different markets.

Not to mention it probably feels quite fast with the turbo (even though it may not be) and is probably a bit more practical. It is a nice car to be sure, but at the end of the day it's fwd with a chassis that doesn't like to be abused.
