I was surprised to get 32MPG. Love this car.
I actually saw you pull out of the side street from Heuberger as we were pulling in. Didn't get a chance to make the run of Pike's Peak, but saw plenty of other things. Gotta save something for the next trip anyways.

After 1200 miles, with 400 miles of total hoonage through the mountains at 30-90mph and 4000-7000rpm, and another 800 miles of 80-85mph highway cruises, I averaged 33.2mpg for the trip. Mind-blowing mileage considering how I was driving -- that's fully double what my GTO averages (granted, it more than double the whp), and it'd probably have gotten single digits through the mountains.

And if you're on the eastern side of the state, get there via Hwy 24 through Gunnison and Montrose.

If you think that's gorgeous, this is what the view is just a few feet away and looking southwest (above photo was facing southeast).

Ahh - that explains it. I live up in Boulder, so I'm a lot more familiar with the mountains in the northern and central parts of the state, including the Rocky Mountain Nat'l Park area. I've been meaning to take a drive down to that part of the state for a while now though (probably via a loop involving US-285 and the Million Dollar Hwy).

Yeah. I got close to 32 on the way back home. It might be a bit too late but you need to do no more than 4000 rpm during the break in period.

Now that's opening up a can of worms right there....

Yeah, not a believer in the low-RPM break-in. I've been buying performance cars for almost 20 years and always done the same thing -- full range of RPM during the break-in. The mountain roads with a variety of high -speed and low-speed twists and turns were a perfect match for my preferred break-in methods as it had me running the whole breadth of the speedo and tach.

But to each their own. There's reasons/excuses/logic/etc for every manufacturer prescribed break-in method.

I was just repeating what I was told to do during the break in period. One of the reasons I bought from Clint was so I can drive 750 miles back home and finish the break in period in under a week. 150 miles to go.

I always figured once credit scores got to a certain point (threshold effect), the dealer would do anything they could to get you their best rate.
Dealers get kick backs from lenders. Most dealers are honest, but not all...

I also picked my car up from Clint @ Hueberger and drove it back to Texas. Clint was awesome and my only regret was not spending more time in Colorado Springs.
