Hell!
Lawnmowers and leaf blowers put out more emissions than a car driving from San Fransisco to LA. I wonder how many people were killed from the freaking Yosemite fire?

would be great if they can break down the amount of deaths per km - then i can paint a little skull on the fender for each confirmed kill.

Monsanto is killing WAY more people than that.

You're better off not eating corn or wheat than worrying about buying an EV.

Thumbs down

I don't know why anyone thinks running on E85 is more environmentally friendly. In fact it's worse than running on gasoline. Ethanol production from corn requires more energy for production than what you get from the finished product. Furthermore once you run that ethanol in your car your gas mileage decreases, because ethanol fuel contains less energy than a comparative volume of gasoline. So you're losing efficiency on both ends.

I really detest studies like this, as they never address how great our standard of living is thanks to fossil fuels. Higher standard of living means healthier people. The amount of people that have lived longer thanks to fossil fuels boosting their standard of living FAR OUTWEIGHS the people "killed by" automotive emissions.

So...so...dumb

California is the most populous state in the nation with an estimated 38+ million residents.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of..._by_population

With an average ownership of .84 cars per person...
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of...les_per_capita

That's like 31 million cars on the road, not to mention the prevalence of off road and motorsport vehicles (dem racetracks and sand dunes and lakes) and one of the largest agricultural industries in the world (tractors all day long) I'm surprised anyone is surprised. Considering this is how LA used to look, I'm not complaining about the regulations:

Ha. Me too. Except I'm mildly allergic to dogs too. I drive with no cats, nor dogs.

While you are in South Africa and not the US, you can do a rough estimate...
In the U.S. approximately 3 trillion miles are driven a year by Americans.

http://www.businessinsider.com/vehic...-driven-2013-2

3,000,000,000,000 miles / 53,000 emissions deaths = ~ 56 Million Miles / Death.

Converting to KM, for about every 90 Million km you drive, you get one kill.
Hope you keep the GT86 for a long time! :-p

I flew into LA from Tahiti in 1974 and the 707 nearly got diverted because of the thick yellow smog that covered the city. The pilot took a chance and landed through it, everyone applauded with relief when it landed safely.
I have never seen anything like it.

Calalytic converters must be the main reason it's no longer a problem and there's no excuse for running without one now that we know the harm it causes.

Yeah because big oil refineries and other industrial operations had nothing to do with it.
lol just messin with ya.
But wish the state would split in 1/2. I blame LA for all the strict emissions laws, and they keep taking all of norcals water.
