As we informed everyone above the production mold for your Driver side 10" enclosure should hopefully get attention again at the beginning of next week. I know your subwoofer wants a partner and we are working hard to make sure it will be on its way soon.

After testing several different woofers in your Passenger side enclosure, can you share your findings? I know you had a video of our enclosure with your Dayton HF 10 up in another thread a while ago, can you post it here?

I got you Dan. I tested about 6 subs so far in the enclosure. I'll post something soon.

I found your video in the other thread. Here is the link to the video for anyone interested:

I would still love for you to chime in about your findings while testing the 6 different woofers in our enclosure, when you get a chance of course. Thanks!

We are mostly running again, and slowly getting up to speed, but there are a lot of things to catch up on and some orders that backed up during the downtime associated with the move. We hope to be back to our normal 5 - 7 business day turnaround on the 10" Passenger side enclosure by the end of next week. I have also begun working on the other three production molds again, finally! Thank you all for sticking it out through this with us... It is said that good things come to those who wait, and everyone has been so patient... so sit back and watch as we roll out some good things!

Cheers, Dan

Thanks Dan, I probably wouldn't be ordering for another couple weeks anyway. Is there a chance of you making a 12" enclosure in the same style?

Unfortunately, we do not have any plans to offer a 12" model enclosure for the FRS, BRZ, 86 line. The height of the trunk on the sides are too low for us to have a 12" ring that allows for a recessed woofer mounting and a ridge for our press fit grill and trim ring option. for reference, below is a pic of our 10" prototype enclosure being framed up in our prototyping stages and you can see just how little vertical space there is.

A 12" enclosure would also require quite a bit more airspace encroaching on valuable space in the trunk, and a 12" subwoofer tends be more bass then most would desire in a vehicle with such a small cabin. If more bass is what you want, we have allowed for the fitment of some really beefy 10" woofers, and the option for a pair (imagine 2 10W6's). Mostly it was just the design issue and wanting to keep with our recessed woofer and press grill design.

In the future (when we get all 4 of our current models off and running) we would like to explore the option of a spare tire well enclosure that would fit slim model 10's, 12's, and maybe even the 13.5".

Coincidentally I just measured the upper lip of the recessed opening on our 10" enclosure (came in at 11.25" dia) and so it appears a 12" woofer surface mounted would fit. We could even back that area of the enclosure with an MDF ring for mounting purposes. The problem lies in the fact that the standard enclosure volume out of the mold is .75 cu ft (.86 cu ft when you add the recessed area's volume) which is still too small of airspace for most 12" woofers on the market. Just thought I'd measure it anyway for the sake of the conversation.

Thanks for the info, I agree with a 12 probably being too much bass I was just asking cuz I have a 12 sitting in my garage lol. I think the slim or shallow mount sub boxes would be a great design for this platform as well since the trunk space is so small.

The new shop space is shaping up nicely and as soon as we get all of the stations fully up and running there should be no more stepping on each others feet! We are getting organized as we spread out in the space, and we are slowly catching up on our backed up 10" Passenger side orders and plan to be back to our normal 5-7 day turnaround on them toward the end of the week.

I have begun working on the production molds again were we left off at the beginning of July, so the other 3 models will be in the production mix very soon.

As a side note... We sent our first international shipment to Canada at the end of last week, and we should have one out to Australia by the end of this week!

Sub'd....

Looks good, how does it sound? I'm thinking old school, I had an 85 Monte Carlo SS with 2 10's and it wasn't much of anything. That trunk is like 10 times the size of the FRS... so is 2 subs needed? Or can you get plenty of pound from a single 10w6 to make you feel good? Not trying to compete in SPL competitions... but I want good solid clean base that you can feel when you turn it up.

I am finishing up with a few layers on the second half of the 8" passenger and driver side and 10" driver side production molds. I will be out of the shop next week but resume on Oct 7th. When I return I will add the bracing, pull the molds, and then have 1 week of post mold cure and then wetsanding and surface prep before we can pull the first parts. Keep in mind we are repeating all of the many teadious steps outlined at the beginning of this thread for the 10" passenger side model, but we are working on 3 molds now (1 for each of the remaining models) and still having to fulfill orders on the 10" passenger side to keep the business running in the process. This is a long process just for one mold, let alone 3 and the move we had in the middle of summer that put everything on hold. We knew it would take at least a couple months for these models since one model can easily take 200 hours from prototype to mold to production but we really didn't intend for it to stretch on this long. Even with our unexpected move aside, it is apparent that next time we will have to do only one model release at a time no matter how even the demand is. Sorry to keep everyone waiting, the final product will be worth the wait, I promise.
