That's true. I was just thinking of how someone would do a dual header setup. Dangling from the first set by zip ties was the first thing I thought of. You'd scrape a lot and make cool looking sparks. +1 rice.

If you're looking for super affordable, I recommend the J2. I picked mine up when it was $320 or thereabouts. No rust, quiet enough to daily drive, very decent tone under part throttle and plenty of roar at WOT. Tsudo is also good at their pricepoint. Exhaust is a hard one to recommend, as they all sound different, and everyone has their own preferences as to tone and decibels. There's a fantastic exhaust compilation sticky. I'd recommend living in that thread for a few days and find the one that you hit "replay" on repeatedly.
If you're looking for performance and not just noise, definitely +1 the header recommendation. I don't even care which. You're looking at the same pricerange, but you'll actually see notable torque and power gains. |

1. Invidia N1 too "loud" 2. Greddy sp elite and q300 are too quiet unless you change other components of the exhaust 3. J2 vids on YouTube are mostly with other components and we are nervous about the price point referencing quality and/or it's loud 4. TSUDO is too quiet unless paired with something else. 5 the muffler deletes are not daily drivable for a lot of us Basically, rookies and noobs trying to pick an exhaust don't want to drop 1k or hks, ark, perrin, etc. so therefore we look to that under 700 price point I put in my original thread. When we start researching a lot of those, the same 3 things happen. Either they are too loud, too quiet, or the videos giving accurate representations are with an overpipe, front pipe etc. I understand this post may be extremely nitpicky but I'm kinda hear to voice the opinions of several other members and to maybe halt some people from being harsh to posters asking about exhausts. We understand there are videos, reviews etc, sometimes we just want to hear from the masses of people of there are consistent opinions on one exhaust. Hence while I made this thread. I hope it helps some people, but mainly myself because like others have said I am a click away from ordering something, just want to be extra sure. Right now I am probably going with the works abm like some other spools I know who are exhaust noobs like me. But still feeling out potential back ups Anyways, the previous responses were insightful and on point, and I hope this thread stays that way and doesn't take a turn for the worse. I'm sure a lot of people will appreciate it. Cheers and everyone be safe during the holiday. Keep the responses coming!!! |

I still vote for header!
But, if "y'all" are hellbent on a catback, did you check out DSport Magazine article on FRS exhaust systems? They give you performance gains as well as noise levels. You can even check out their videos on YouTube. http://dsportmag.com/browse/tech/sci...haust-showcase [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jYv8rje2G3A"]DSPORT #122 FR-S/BRZ Exhaust Showcase Stock FR-S Testing - YouTube[/ame] |

dj is correct with that statement, for the money on the q300 is not worth it unless you really want a little kick, with the cat back only.
the Perrin cat back resonated i recommend its 800 but its not too loud and its very noticeable, its great for daily driving, and if you are going to change the headers or any other of the piping i recommend resonated cat back so that its not as loud for daily-ing. it looks clean as well and im looking at the 2.5 inch piping, there is also a 3inch piping if you want a little louder |

Folks talking about weight of the Invidia exhausts, the Q300 weighs same as stock catback. The N1 weights 9-10 lbs less than stock catback.
For those saying Q300 has drone, it has absolutely zero drone on a BRZ/FRS, I would NOT compare it to a WRX Q300. The Q300 on my car has zero drone or rasp even with aftermarket catless front pipe and overpipe. OP, you need to ask yourself if you plan to go full exhaust and header or just catback. If you plan for full exhaust, you will actually want a little bit quieter catback (by itself) as when you throw in a front pipe, overpipe, and header, it will get quite loud with some of the catbacks that are loud by themselves with no other exhaust modifications. If you plan to only do catback, then some of the more aggressive catbacks are a good option as you don't have to worry about them getting too loud when you add other exhaust parts later. |

Just a tad over $700, you can probably source it for cheaper depending which dealer. Magnaflow makes an amazing exhaust for DD not too loud not too quiet, with a nice deep but smooth agressive tone. I have it on my FR-S and absolutely love the sound it produces, I've recieved a bunch of. Compliments, looks great on the car as well, I can supply pictures if you would like ![]() There is absolutely no drone, and it is only slightly louder then stock when cruising on the highway (inside the car), I'd say it's about 2-3x louder then stock outside of the car, shouldn't be loud enough to generate noise complaints but definitely loud enough to be heard from a fairly long distance away :-)
