Bingo... Relatively speaking (specifically to this forum's typical demographic), it will be expensive.

That being stated, at ~4x the price of our Twins--this would be an expensive car, IMO.

As for joint ventures--I love 'em. My old ZR-1 Vette had it's engine designed by Lotus, built by Mercruiser Marine & crated over to Bowling Green & installed by Chevy! lol

Official: BMW Rumored to be Readying Z5 Roadster with Toyota

Quote:
An alleged BMW insider from the Bimmerpost forums is reporting that BMW's version of the new sports car project currently being co-developed with Toyota will be offered in two body styles, roadster and coupe, with both to wear the Z5 nameplate. The Z5 is said to be previewed by a concept model in the very near future.

The insider is forum member "Scott26" who often breaks BMW news on the forum – we don't know if his identity has been revealed, but we did find a thread on the site trying to find who he is, and whether he works for the Bavarian company, something his postings insinuate.

In the same report, Scott26 notes that BMW is working on a new front-wheel drive Z1 roadster based on the same UKL platform as the upcoming 1-Series GT and the next Mini (something we have heard before, albeit that report called the car the Z2), and the re-introduction of the Z3 moniker.

In detail, here's what Scott26 mentioned:

"Many within the company wishes for an M Z4 but unfortunately the market is small. It is possible to do a limited model like the 1 Series M Coupe but there is no decision to do this. There was the plan to absorb the Z4 iS into the M Performance line but this fell through in the final hour.

We will shortly be presenting our collaboration with Toyota for a new interpretation of a new highly focused sports car first as a concept. The production car will be called the Z5 which allows us to align a new UKL (FWD) based Z1 with equivalent MINI sports car along with a mid sized Z3 (the name is coming back) which again could be aligned with Toyota. Although for some markets Toyota might use Lexus branding.

The Z5 Roadster will feature exterior and interior design from BMW, as well as BMW engines. Toyota will supply optional hybrid technology and BMW will supply CFRP in its construction. A coupe will follow.

The new "Z" design is influenced by the Vision ConnectedDrive Concept Car

I hope Z5 doesn't imply heavier than Z4...
Z3 return is good, if under 3000 lb.
Z1 should by god be rwd.
fwd roadster? no thanks...

I'm thinking a bigger Z5 is needed to take on cars like the Mercedes SL.

As for Toyota, I'm still hearing rumors that it will take styling clues from the 2007 FT-HS concept.

It'll sell as a BMW since BMW can polish a turd and sell it to its Beemersheep as the next best thing.

I actually like BMW new styling but I could never buy one of their straight 6's. The sound and feel of a straight 6 means nothing to me. Same with a turbo.

The hatchback Z3/Z4 was ahead of it's time styling wise. Most people thought it looked like a shoe. The hatchback was considerably stiffer than the roadster, which was part of the reasoning used to justify the added cost.

I can honestly say that I have never heard this sentence before.

2015 Toyota Supra Rumour!

MotorTrend has stated that we might see a Toyota Supra successor in 2015. According to the rumours, the development is still in a very early stage.

The picture shown above is nothing more than a rendering made by Holiday Auto Magazine. The final looks of the car should be based on the test car below, the GRMN MRS prototype.

The new Supra will come with an all-wheel-drive system and a mid-engine 3.5 liter V6 producing up to 400hp. Estimated price is around $ 60,000

This car looks like a modernised MR2 mixed with a Ferrari California/F12 Berlinetta and an Audi R8.

I think there may be a hybrid AND a gas version, this being the gas version.

And this being the hybrid;

The front bumper of this hybrid actually looks quiet similar to the FRS/86.

The hybrid looks ugly.
But the red car looks pretty nice to be honest. All they really need to change is the front.
