For a Limited I can see that. Overall I don't think he got a terrible deal, I mean he bought it at $25k. $4700 for a year's worth of use, not bad at all. Losing 18% of the value in a year is expected. But I guess it depends on the color, location, etc. Here in Texas they are selling used at $24k, Limiteds are selling for over $26k used in some cases. Now who the hell would go and buy a used BRZ/FRS for couple thousand less than a new one, is beyond me. Personally I wouldn't even consider buying my friend's BRZ from Carmax at $23900, with 4800 miles. That's just plain moronic. |

Agreed on the variables -
There are variables when it comes to a trade-in offer. Dealer must look at total profit margin of the total deal i.e. what dealer is getting for the vehicle being sold: (UPDATE) - A higher profit for the car the dealer sells and therefore a higher trade-in offer OR a lower profit margin on the new car being sold and therefore a lower trade-in offer. Best indicator (and best way with a little effort): What one can get in a private sale. Either way may be the buyer's preference and that's OK as well. If you have private party offers at $24.5k take it! You get zero benefit in MI for having a trade-in. It's not like other states that take the trade value off of the taxable price.
damn.. for $24.5 I'd very seriously consider selling mine right now. |

if premium AT discontinued wouldn't the price of it go up? there will be only 2013 premium AT. so pretty sure the price wont drop a lot.

Let's hope that's true. I'm curious to see how my GBS AT fares on resale value a few years down the line (:

I think, by far, people prefer the manual with these cars. I don't really see the price of the premium AT going up because the price is still relative to the AT Limited.

pretty much everyone gets the MT, I got AT is because I live in city so it's easier to drive with. if I live at country side or somewhere that doesn't have so many traffic lights or traffic jams...I would get MT and it's cheaper too. price of a premium AT is like $1000 less than limited MT.
