This is incorrect

Also incorrect

I had no trouble getting Series 10 headlamps through the local Toyota parts department.

Buying them is no more difficult than getting a price quote.

My local Toyota parts department did not ask me for a VIN or any proof of ownership. I gave them the part numbers, they placed an order, they received said order, and I gladly paid for them.

What's so exclusive about parts that the majority of these cars leave the assembly line with?

I was not asked for a VIN and am now the proud owner of Series 10 headlamps.

My local parts department did not ask me for a VIN at anytime.

I picked them up last night and have not installed them, but I believe that everything is included.

I'm not sure why anybody would want that paint code.
All jokes aside, the local Toyota parts department never asked me for a VIN. I called and placed an order for the parts I wanted and they arrived a few weeks later.
You got the parts because this dealer did what a lot of dealers are doing which is using customers cars or VIN numbers the dealership has to order the parts.

Call Scion/USA and ask them if non owners can buy these parts.

You are correct. If you call Scion USA (which I did) and asked them if I could buy these parts they confirmed everything you said. I can't really can't buy these parts and put them on my car...

...and they said that doing any modifications to the car may void my warranty...

...so I'm going to enjoy the enhanced nighttime functionality of my new headlights...

...the comfort of my OEM armrest and my OEM Heated Seats. Because I've "modified" my car with all of these OEM parts, I'm going to call Toyota financial services and cancel my extended warranty (since it's worthless now).

Thank you TRD-X, theTRDshop, Shock_r, and ohnoimcought for taking us all to school, we have all learned a valuable lesson today. I'm so grateful I leave this bunny with a pancake on it's head for your collective enjoyment.

The armrest came from www.nigel-jdmparts.com (he's still got some in stock but they sell fast). The e-brake handle and boot came from a Subaru dealer.

@@Art_Mighty no one was trying to school you just telling you how the Toyota parts system is suppose to work.

I have zero problems with you guys buying the 10 Series parts as you don't have the paint or release badge so it's not a big deal.

Yeah @frs10 Nigel-JDM Parts sells the armrest here's a link.

Some people get really butthurt when you tell them no. I work at a dealership, Cincinnati Region Parts Distributor told us you have to have VIN to order them. I just attended our regional Scion 10th event, all the Scion/Toyota execs and reps were there to show us dealers a good time. I spoke with every official there multiple times about a plethora of things, and they said no about the ten series stuff.

Just because your dealership didn't follow the rules, and broke them, doesn't mean all dealers do.

If you wait long enough you'll be able to get the special edition pieces. My Wrangler was is a special edition (back when Chrysler cared to have unique editions), for years anything I needed to replace had to be ordered with a VIN but after about 5 years the special parts were available through all the catalog services. It may be quicker with this 10 series, who knows.

Just last month I had to drive my 8 year old FJ Cruiser TRD S/E to the dealership for them to physically confirm the VIN and worn S/E specific part before ordering a new one through a parts specialist at TMS. I expect the 10 Series S/E cars will be treated the same.
