Matt, from my research, Takeda produced the highest numbers out of intakes on the market. (Takeda / Greddy are made by AFI) This is why I've chosen them... with this in mind, I can only imagine that a Takeda cai would only increase the gains. God speed!

Then you havent looked around hard enough lots of other intakes perform better afe/greddy were good when they were out when the car was fairly new. Their is alot more to choose from but cost a little more. Afe/greddy just barely out perform a drop in filter itself

A true cai like the fa20club, AEM, Blitz, any type of intake duct aftermarket drop in filter, Trd intake are just a few that perform just as well as the afe and in some cases even better. Fa20 club is the best of those IMO but a duct/drop in would be better than most intakes on the market. It's beensaid thousands of times if you buy an intake u shudnt be buying it for performance but for sound as a drop in filter works just fine and is the best route to go since the oem box already so well designed. And if money wasnt a factor the gruppe m or syms are hands down the best 2 intakes you could possibly get, only thing is that they aren't practical for how much they cost for just an intake mod. Another intake just came out and according to there r&d they got about 10 whp it was a jdm intake with a hose that looked like it was part of a dryer it was posted recently but I wouldn't spend 600 on it when the fa20 gets similar gains for half the price. Intakes IMO are the biggest waste of money on this car just get a drop in filter and call it a day. Get a duct if you really think it's worth it for a lil more. I'd I didnt plan to go FI I would get the fa20. Perrins cai is nice also but a drop in performs better than it all it has is sound and like the duct/drop in both are reusable with with avo turbo and the innovate sc also uses the stock airbox also. You can browse this forum for 10-15 minutes and find a lot of good intakes for this car. Most of them don't do jack other than give some sound and 1-2 more whp than a drop in and aren't worth the extra 250-300. A drop in and duct would still be cheaper than an afe. And a silicone tube and drop in would still b cheaper by 100-150 for like 1 less whp. If i remember correctly a zeta inlet tube and there drop in got 6-7 whp in a dyno thread last year Last edited by FR-Sizzle; 08-29-2013 at 09:24 AM. |
