Anyone know if this will work in Canada, and if GPS maps are available?

On the 10 series the head unit is Nav capable but needs the $800 extension box

i have a question for those who upgraded from the 2013 bespoke. with regards to audio quality, does the new unit sound better than the 2013 bespoke? i am thinking of just getting the base unit for now. and i'm curious if it will sound better with the stock speakers over the old bespoke.

The artist/track/album do show via BT SOME of the time. I've found it doesn't show up a lot unless I disconnect/reconnect the BT. The album art works about 10% of the time via BT. Mostly it shows a built-in generic "rock" or "pop" album cover. The few times it does show album art it seems to be bigger/known artists. The head unit clearly prefers the iTunes music player as it reverts to it. If you start the car and had it on it on BT last, it reverts from Spotify to iTunes. If you get a phone call when playing Spotify via BT, it switches back to iTunes after you hang up. My experience is on an iPhone 4S, perhaps it would be better on the iPhone 5. I was switching from BT to USB on Spotify today the sound quality is CLEARLY better via BT, but that likely stems from analog (4S) to digital (5). The iPhone 5 has digital thru the USB now so it might not make a difference to anyone with the newer phone. The nav works really well. I've been impressed with it. I just wish my passenger could program it while I was driving. I haven't had great luck w/ the voice recognition with it yet, but I haven't really tried much to be fair. Siri doesn't seem to work all that well with it either, but I also think that's an iPhone 4S vs. 5 issue. |

You can only put in a route on the GPS while the vehicle is at a complete stop. It can be turned on.

so i bit the bullet and ordered the base head unit for my 2013 Frs.
it seems that dealerships are already charging the 1k msrp for the unit as two dealerships local to the area were charging me that much for just PT546-00140. there was only one dealership that still had the unit for $525 so i went ahead and ordered it. it took a day for me to get it. in comparison to the 2012 bespoke unit which my car came with, this unit is a worthy upgrade in the sense that it looks better is more upgrade able (nav) and it sounds nicer IMO too. the only downside is that it doesn't have RCA pre-outs but its not a big deal for me because i don't have a sub or plan to in the near future. installation was a breeze, all you have to do is transfer the brackets to the new unit and plug everything back in. its a 5 minute job. if you are on the fence on getting this unit i'd recommend you getting one as soon as possible since they are going up in price.

Got an email from Toyota saying they were canceling my Entune service because it did not appear I had actually purchased that vin #. Guess they caught on. Oh we'll still love the NAV.

I finally saw this unit in person on a TC and the unit looks really good. I have the 2013 bespoke on my TC at the moment, but might look to get this unit when I get my BRZ shortly.
Was Wondering if anyone here has installed this on a BRZ? Reason I'm wondering is because the Subaru comes standard with nav in the oem unit...so I'm curious if this would plug and sync with that sat connection? |
