Any turbo timer I've seen keeps the whole car running, not just an electric pump for oil and/or coolant.

Yes, indeed, but again don't see the need with a water/oil cooled turbo. As long as you don't run it and straight turn it off you will be good.

With older oil-cooled turbo cars, the oil available at the time could coke (degrade/burn) if left in a hot turbo if you didn't let it circulate and cool down. You would be hard pressed to coke a modern synthetic oil, even if you were trying to.

All my turbo cars its always been the same. I just take it easy 2-3 min from my destination. Clutch in and roll when I park. Stop. Set ebrake. Fiddle with radio. Undo seat belt. Roll up windows. Open door. Then turn it off. Don't really do a cool down, just do everything else I normally do when I park.
Unless your doing a WOT pull, then going straight into a parking lot and shutting it off I wouldn't worry too much.

On new cars with stock turbos unnecessary, because the turbos are technically being cooled even when the car is off because either the oil or coolant is still passing through them and the cooling is designed from the ground up with the car. Aftermarket wise its not that necessary unless you constantly go WOT all day long every day.

I do wot on the highways alot but by the time I
Pull into my Neighboor and sit at the stop light for a few minutes no need for like a cool down unless you wide open throttle str8 into your garage lol |

What about when racing? Autocross, drags, or roadcourse. You usually go hard then shut off to cool with the hood open until your next run. Should you leave the car running instead of shutting down?

i think i would cause more problems with fuel dillution on e85 in my oil than anything letting it idle all the time. Thankfully i have along enough dirt driveway to not worry about it.

Right after a run I would let it idle for a minute then shutoff.

Lots of old school cars were also water/oil cooled. Issue is how hot the turbine housing gets and then heat soaking the bearing section after the car is off and fluids aren't circulating.

If your parking spot is at the end of 1/4 strip then sure. Other wise the time spend cruising to your parking spot should be fine. New tech has made it less important but it still should be kept in mind.

I know that is the issue. My point is water/oil cooled will not get hot enough cruising around to warrant using a turbo timer. Old school or not. Now, right after running the car hard, even water/oil cooled should be let cool down for a minute or two. Whether the person feels a turbo timer is needed depends on his/her discipline to always let the cooldown happen before shutoff. (Cooldown meaning cruising/coasting or letting idle the minute or two).
