Turbo "cooldown" before ignition off?
So title pretty much says it all, i remember in the past on other turbo cars, recommendations were made to let the turbo "cool down" before turning off the ignition.
I am thinking/guessing this is in relation to the bearings and oil in the turbine still spinning without lubricant? Anyone do this? Thoughts? |

I still do right after some WOT, although w/ synthetics & technology, it's not as important as it used to be.
Regular diving--don't bother--it'll just waste gas.

I was reading about this same thing recently since I just got the AVO. Tonight I let it cool down because I had just done some pretty hard driving, generally though I just drive slow at either end of my journey. Don't wanna spool up the turbo a bunch when the engine is cold either.

Does it include an electric pump to keep coolant circulating after shutting the car off? That would really negate the need to keep it running unless you were driving it really hard.

You are basically describing what a turbo timer does and no, I don't have an electric pump to keep coolant circulating in my car. I take it easy about 2-5 minutes before turning the car off everytime.

The joy of a remote start system, once parked, remove the key from the ignition, the vehicle will continue to run for 30 seconds after all doors (and trunk) have been closed.
Kills 2 birds with 1 stone.
