@Erza_ft86 alphards
![]() Post more pics of your FR-S, on flat ground preferably. I'd like to see what your ride height looks like with the fronts maxed out on the zeros. |

Quick question. The conical washer, which way does it go in? And it goes between the factory bucket and the upper spring perch correct?

Well, I fixed my brake issue... kinked line. I'm such a noob! Glad it was easy though. I'll post pictures when I get her cleaned up this weekend. Pretty hefty drop, nice flush look. Only small issue left is the light clicking noise when going over a small hill and the weight adjusts on the rear coils. I checked the tightness yesterday and both rear coils were really tight on the perch. I'm assuming this might be due to how new they are? Either way, not a big enough issue for me to take them off completely and mess with them right now. The ride is very nice, and my handling feels like it picked up drastically along with the wide rims and tires.
Thanks for the recommendation @Sportsguy83 on the open end ratchets. Those kickass for the top hats! I'll be installing SPC LCA's next to adjust my rear camber and toe a little bit. I splurged and also got Hawk's ceramic brake pads and the Goodridge SS lines. Should be all the braking + more that I need. I'll get it realigned and get the balance sheet this time. |

Good to hear it wasn't something terrible.
Also - i see a lot of people with the Fuelly apps - up there in the high 20's like you. I must drive like an A-hole, cause my avg mpg is 22.5 lol. Then again, maybe it's because i track...

Here's a pic of my baby after most of the issues have been sorted out with this whole ordeal. Still don't have a straight steering wheel. ![]() Some daily driver comments on the RCE T0 coilovers with 225/280 Note:some of my impression is coloured by new tires and wheels, as well as alignment difference from stock Ride - Firmer than stock no doubt at all, noticed this the most when I had them first put on. Undulations in the road are much more noticeable, which is not my favourite aspect. For aftermarket suspension, they are still relatively comfortable, and definitely liveable day to day. Hard bumps are harsher than stock but actually very tame as far as aftermarket suspensions go. My wife says "a bit more rough, not bad". For me, stock ride is about a 7.5/10, and ride comfort with RCE's is about a 6-6.5/10. Handling - This is hard to judge, I've made a lot of changes so it's hard to isolate the coilovers themselves between the alignment and the new tires. My main observations are that roll is reduced slightly, more speed can be carried through turns, but confidence at the upper threshold is not as inspiring as stock felt (given at a lower threshold). The car is able to rotate under cornering even with my big 245 summer tires on the rear and stock power. It feels very neutral, which is exactly what I was after. Build quality - Top notch, very easy to rotate the collars, plating looks very nice and uniform, they feel very sturdy (a little on the heavy side). I have not had clunking or strange noises from the coilovers, huge thumbs up for that. I used stock mounts. Service - Had many issues, but at least RCE sorted them out eventually. Overall I think this could be improved. For the price, they are very good coilovers. The ST coilovers sound promising, and at a lower price point, but only have galvanized coating. I would say these are the main competition at this point to the RCE T0. Last edited by djdnz; 09-03-2013 at 03:32 PM. |

I think my clicking/clunking noises in the rear are due to tightening issues. I may have to re-adjust them this weekend. When I brake slightly or the weight adjusts on the rear just a bit at very low speeds, I can hear the click of the top hats in the rear. Would you guys recommend compressing the springs then tightening or is it possible to do this while they are mounted since weight is already distributed? They felt extremely tight when I tried to tighten them while on the car, but the rears need a long open ended socket in order to tighten. I'll be putting on the SPC LCA's so that will be a good opportunity to remove them off the car again to do some tightening. Fronts seem to be just fine. Can you go lower than this on these coils? If so, how much lower? Just trying to get an idea of how much flexibility I'll have with ride height with these. Thanks. |

Yes, I've seen that in posts.
I'm trying to get a "visual" idea of just how much of a drop that is on these cars. Or at the very least, someone who is dropped 1.25" for example, so I can get an idea of what another quarter of an inch would look like i.e. maxed out on these. I was maxed out on my previous H&R street coils on my VW R32 and ride quality was perfect and I was just low enough to where I wasn't scraping but was still able to drive the piss out of it. That's what I'm trying to accomplish here. Low enough to aesthetically please myself while maintaining drivability. |
