You gain weight because it's an overlay, not a replacement. It's all one piece with the rest of the front and can't be removed.

This is purely an aesthetic part.

does anyone actually have this on their brz. im very interested in this for the LP mounting. I bought the tow hook relocation kit because I didnt want to drill into the mustache.

I have the Kansai Service one. Japanparts has it listed on their site because I inquired to them about it 2 months ago for which they ordered it for me. I prefer it over the S-Craft one because it matches the stock body lines.

I pre-drilled the holes but never installed it yet. Not 100% sure I want to install it since I already have a carbon front lip (might be a bit too much carbon over load). If you want it I'd consider offers on it. Will post up pics when I get a chance tonight.

Sorry, as mentioned I wasn't sure if I really wanted to run it but below is my review and pics...

Quality is good. The weave looks professional for a hand laid piece, there don't appear to be any air pockets embedded in the resin or anything like that but honestly, I was expecting a little more from a name like Kansai Service (maybe I'm just that picky, though). I've seen some other parts by them and they were absolutely spectacular and flawless. The left side of the piece has probably a single layer of carbon but they probably didn't paint/coat the back part of the piece enough with black because when you hold the piece up to the light a little light pierces through. It's really not a big deal because once you put on the piece it's not noticeable but still. You can also still see a portion of the original mustache piece at the corners and a really small section at the top. No real biggy for me. Please keep in mind this was only a test fit and the piece can be installed a lot more flush with the double sided tape so the original mustache can be seen even less.

As usual for most affordable carbon items it's really a carbon top layer but mainly comprised of a fiberglass under layer. It appears to have provisions for both Euro and JDM plates (sorry, no USDM holes so drilled them myself). You might also want to consider clear coating the piece if you plan to use it on a regular basis as most carbon pieces from a lot of manufacturers don't have UV protection and might yellow faster over time.

Price was whatever was listed on Japanparts website + shipping.

Looks nice but, I'd have to go with S-Craft on it. That ones is smooth (no license plate and even shaved body-line.

Well, I'm expecting to pay customs & duty fees because I ordered a bunch of other things at the same time so that might be a bit different from someone just buying the Kansai piece alone. I say "expecting" because FedEx hasn't sent me an invoice for the fees yet.

The S-Craft was an option (actually it was the first one that came out but then I discovered the Kansai one) but because it didn't keep the stock indentation lines it reminded me too much of a big single tooth Mater from Cars and personally looked too bulbous/bulky.

I'm still waiting for someone to cut the mouthpiece completely out, and install a black wire mesh grill.

That's what I'm planning on doing. It'll open up the front for better cooling, and IMO it will look a lot better.

F... that could look very cool if done right... my balls aren't even close to big enough to attempt that though... I'll let someone else be the first to jump on that one.
