looks like the events will conflict with 86drive's raffle party.

i guess members will just have to choose which one to attend to

edit: i am still negotiating with plato to move his event to 3PM so that everyone can attend BOTH events on the same day.

Ugh. I most definitely will have to work. I'll try to stop by for a bit of the meet and greet since Vasona is close to work and I'll be driving anyway, but I can't do the whole thing. Sadness.

Edit: Nevermind... Just saw this "If you want to come. you must be registered or will be asked to go home."

I'm not paying $20 to pay a park fee to stop by for less than an hour to say hi to folks on my lunch break. I'm not going to raffle, I'm not going to eat, just socialize.

JR, You should just require tickets for food/raffle/etc and people have to pay for those so you're getting your monies worth there. Non-payment folks can come hang, but can't have perks. It would make this a bit more social, and allow folks that might only be able to stop by for a little bit a chance to come be part of the event still without feeling like they have to pay money for such a short amount of time, and won't be able to really enjoy.

Everyone is already registering, and they have to stop by a reg table when they get there. So just hand out tickets/bracelets/something there and they get the perks. You still get reimbursement for the investment in organization (raffle prizes/food/etc), and those that only want to stop by shortly get to attend without being told to go home. As a community we shouldn't be required to pay to hang out at a meet. We should be required to pay for food/raffle prizes/etc.

TL,DR version: Event should be free, Raffle/prize tickets should cost money, food vouchers should cost money, entry to park in a parking lot for a few hours and stand around and talk should not cost money.

Your idea is great but very hard to control and manage. I dont have a handfull of staff to manage that kind of setup.

That general rule that you pointed out has been there ever since the meet at stafford park.

Not to sure if i'm going to make this one. Need to find a job first and then see if they'll let me have that day off. So i'll probably have to skip this one and hopefully make the next one. I'll post up and register if anything changes that will allow me to make it.

This also conflicts with an autox in Stockton.

Maybe have different colored wristbands and line for those who paid for raffle/food/etc and for those who didn't pay/are there to hang out? If you need any help, let me know!

There are plenty of people in this community that would volunteer to help you check names/cars on a list and hand someone a wristband. When they sign up for raffle or ask for food and don't have a wrist-band, they don't get to be part of those items. It's not like we're talking about rocket science here, and it preserves the ability for some folks to come by and say hi to friends if they don't have the time to partake in the whole event.

I'm not trying to be difficult. I'd just personally like to stop by if I can, and I probably can't, but I'd also like to see an opportunity for others that know people in the group to swing by and say hi. I've also been meaning to buy a sticker from you for the owner's club, and was going to try to do it then.

my only concern is this... would you really tell someone this once the food is ready "hey you cant eat.. you didn't pay.. stay away from the food"?? once food is cooked and ready to go it's free for all.

so how do you propose to control everyone?

my idea is, if you just want to hang out and chill, you can come after everyone eats. roughly around 1PM.

At the Novato meet there was a line and there were people behind the table helping out. They'd just look for wristbands and say no. Same goes for the raffle stuff. Ask for a ticket with no wrist-band? No ticket.

If someone didn't contribute to something like this I'd gladly say no. You laid out the guidelines up front. If they don't follow them, then that's their loss. Food is never free.
