Im sure, I think of the FR-S and BRZ as cheap cars for driving enthusiasts. If I had extra money the WRX would get my dollars.

Upper $20k range just makes the FR-S not worth it...unless it is fully loaded like with everything that in in the Toyota 86 High-Spec. The FR-S is missing too much for the car to cost $25k+

But maybe scion is rethinking this and going to come with a fully loaded car...and charge accordingly for it. Maybe production is going to be lower than we thought....

Come of Scion bring it at $23k!

No way would I buy the current WRX...it only has a 5 speed manual. The next generation is just around the corner and it will most definitely have a 6 speed manual and have an all new design. Rumor has it that it will be a 2.0 Flat 4 turbo with 270+ HP....

Hopefully it will be lighter too..

I just got off the phone with the dealer. He told me I should sell it on ebay. Hmm... So very strange.

What's with the gear obsession? 5, 6, it doesn't matter as long as the ratios are good and the transmission is strong. I won't address your rumor-mongering regarding a 2L turbo making more power than the current 2.5L turbo with AVCS.

ummm... the 2.0 (EJ207)made gobs more power than the current 2.5 for years and years. The stock Spec-C RA used to make 380... with an 8k redline. You can easily make a 2.0 turbo motor more powerful than the current USDM STI motor (and it's been that way for about a decade).

And the US has never seen the release of any JDM 2L EJ engine. Ever. Your comparison holds no water on this side of pond.

The EJ205 that we saw made 227 in stock form; no twin-scroll turbine/headers, no AVCS (intake OR exhaust), no forged internals, lower duration cams, lower redline... completely different engine from the EJ207, really. Furthermore, ALL export-spec STI models since the introduction of the third generation have had the 2.5L engine. Subaru needs better emissions and mileage to survive CAFE. We will never see an engine like the EJ207 here. Period.

380 what? No EJ has ever made that much out of the factory. The current 2.5 makes as much power as the 2.0 with way more torque, which frankly is of better use on the street. Your blatant overstatements...they make me cry.

I've been thinking about what the dealer told me today and came up with a couple of reasons the salesman told me the price would be between $25-30K. Maybe he was just going off old information and really doesn't have a clue. Or, maybe he expects the car to come fully loaded. Or, maybe he's giving me a high number hoping I'll be even more excited when the actual price is lower. Or, maybe he knows a little something and Scion is pricing the car higher than we think.

My guess goes with the first one (fingers crossed).
