70mm should befine since in every other country the kit is sold intercooled and comes with both 75 & 70mm in the box

I shook the hell out of the motor and didn't hear my header hitting anything, and I also shook the catback and didn't hear any noise. Just stumped on wtf it is lol. It has to be something though with the exhaust - I started getting the noise once I installed my JDL header.
I haven't heard the sound, but you are probably right on the exhaust/header. On my old tundra, after having someone do a custom exhaust for it, certain rpms/wot/temps, I would get a squealing noise as well. Traded the truck in before i ever got it fixed / a new exhaust. Basically, sounds like you have something protuding into the airflow and acting like a whistle, to keep it as non technical as possible.

If it happened once you installed your header.. then that is where i'd start checking...

Is it possible that it is something else entirely? yes. But most likely, if an issue starts after installing something new.. It's a good place to start.

Fairly certain its not the tensioner.

Yeah, I also had a front pipe on that I swapped back out, so maybe unbolting that had something to do with it too. I know its not the skid plate on the header though, as I thoroughly checked that last time I was under the car.

Seeing as I was talking face to face with the owner of Bullet Superchargers (who designed the kit) and seeing as it was his idea, I feel somewhat confident 👍

Oh and FYI the reason there is only non intercooled kits available in the states, is because your distributor there felt that the non intercooled kits was going to be the better/more popular kit, from a price point of view. This was their choice, against others advice; which can be seen by other markets not even offering the non intercooled kit as an option.

Now that might not seem like a valid reason not to now begin stocking the intercooled version in the states, and just sell both. However, the US distributor purchased 150 non intercooled kits. Now I'm guessing they probably want to move a fair chunk of that stock first before committing to more stock.

Now you might think that it would be easier to just purchase your kit from Australia, rather than wait for the IC option to be available in the states. But, that's now how distributor agreements work.

Probably not the best news, but it at least pits it out there for those wondering what is going on.

just a question, not as a troll, just as someone looking to sort what route to go

since intercooled kits have been available for some time,

how come more dynos and results arent out there?

think i've seen one linked on this site.

is there an active Australian ft86 forum where the info is?

I'm the only one in NZ with one. I haven't fitted mine, as I want to when all my other parts arrive.

There are 10 - 15 at a guess floating around Australia. Videos can be found even on this forum (but probably in the Australian section); also I've seen them on youtube.

As for dynos, I agree that they're hard to come by. Remember the kit doesnt NEED a dyno tune, so many may not have seen a dyno yet.

There is an Australian forum, believe its gt86 DOT come DOT au I'm not on there, as on my brief look about, it was all (in the most part) just recycled info from this site.

I've got a family friend in Australia. Do they sell the intercooler portion separately there so that I could have him pick it up for me and ship it?

I don't believe they do currently. But they could.. Email and ask them.

The worst thing they can say is no.

This happens to me if I shift hard above 4k at WOT or use FFS
