I'm pretty sure the S2K got a diff/tranny upgrade as well. It also got many little revisions like 3 taillight throughout it's life.

If you thought the s2k was buggy, you must be not-too-happy with the FR-S.

I'd take a Honda over anything else at this point in my life. In fact, I'm just killin' time until Honda brings out an affordable car with rwd. (Even if they get the FR-S completely de-bugged, it's still going to be a flat-4 with a way-too-complicated head.)

The gearing changed for 5th/6th, and the secondary reduction changed, and the synchros were changed, but nothing substantial was actually changed.

Only 2 taillights...

I love Hondas but I don't have faith in them to make another NA RWD sports car. There idea of a cheap 2 sporty car is the CRZ lol

I thought they did something to the diff? 2002 had a change in tail lights.

People toying with the HID projectors say that the AP1 projector was slightly higher quality than the AP2 projector. Downgrade complete?

Speaking of S2Ks, some just had a recall on the brake boosters so I wouldn't put them off as being 100% bulletproof.

The only car I can say was bulletproof for myself was my 2004 Tacoma. That gen of Tacomas is probably the most reliable car i'll ever own and that was after 12-13 years of being on the same gen. Not to mention they use Tacomas in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe after a decade the twins will be that good? lol

Funny part is no reported failures from the track guys have been linked to the brake booster. Although I wouldn't mind getting my brake booster replaced right now just because I want new parts on my car.

Are you the one with the black CR and CE28N that's posted on the CSG FB page?

Correct.

Furthermore, the seal is not damaged by detonation per se. Rather, the detonation leads to severe local overheating. The excess heat then MELTS the seals. Then, with the lower seals no longer in place, combustion pressure, heat, etc. damages the upper seals on the injectors and popping sounds can be heard.

My thought is that the occasional detonation is not a problem. There is sufficient time between detonation "episodes" to permit things to cool, so no damage is done.

Track-type driving gets things heated with no chance to cool down ... and the trouble starts.

Again, the seals are not being "blown off" via uncontrolled explosions; the seals are being "melted off" via uncontrolled heat build up.

We need better control of the detonation, probably via a revised ECU tune.

Please correct me if my current understanding is incorrect.
