Before your next track day, it might be wise to go to a dealership service center and ensure you have software update "ZA1JA01C". While this hasn't been confirmed by Toyota, there seems to be a fair amount of evidence to say this reflash contains the fix to the DI collar/detonation problems that some owners have been experiencing.

I have an appt Sat morning for a free service and a software check.

I'll be willing to put my FR-S out on track again after ensuring I have this update!

Thanks for the advice. I was going to try and get a tune before my next track day just to be sure, but if I can just get it checked out by the dealership then even better! I already have a service appt Monday (for grinding gears) so I'll just ask them to add that to the list of things to check.

As you probably already know, this is a much better option than an aftermarket tune since that tune will guarantee that any subsequent engine claims will not be warrantied by Toyota/Subaru.

cool, do you have a link to more info about it? does that update apply to both Scion and Subaru dealerships (or will one of them go huh? when you mention it).

This post references it in the UK market: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=389

This post talks about a member getting it in America from his local Subaru dealer: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showp...&postcount=360

The thread where these posts came from also talks about the 1 character difference in "ZA1JA01C" as simply being the region in which the reflash was released.

I will attempt to confirm that I've received the reflash on Saturday from Folsom Lake Scion.

My saga continues...

I'm quoting myself from a diff thread:

I have a good friend in a different dealership's parts dept that is going to verify the existence of 01C for me.

I brought a copy of the SA "TSB" with me so they were able to read about the problem. The "high rpm detonation" is the service dept's words not mine.

I'm attempting to verify the existence of 01C from a buddy who works in Toyota and if it's at all possible for me to get it. I don't expect to hear anything until at least tomorrow (Tues).

I've since heard that 01C may only be loaded on new (post-feb build dates) and not available for pre-feb cars. I'm going to highly pissed if Toyota doesn't service us pre-feb owners with this update!!

LOL wonder what is involved in a "World Class Mutlipoint Inspection"

I see they noted in your service record that you have aftermarket brake pads and tires. Guess they're documenting whatever they see to be ready to deny you warranty coverage down the line.

My thoughts exactly. The service rep I was talking to was quick to point out after the inspection that they recognize my car as "a track car".

Granted, it doesn't take much insight to recognize common track-oriented aftermarket parts, grooved rotors, and an owner being overly concerned about a reflash for cars frequently shifted at redline, to know this car possibly sees driving events.

Funny thing is, this car has seen 1 track day and 1 autoX and will not see another until Toyota gets off their ass and fixes this problem for us early adopters.

yeah, I guess I am somewhat lucky that the Subie dealership that I take my car to, has a fairly small service department and the service advisers/mgrs that work there are car enthusiasts, so they are no stranger to modified cars and own modified cars themselves. So they don't preemptively document every little aftermarket thing you have on your car, that seems like a bit of d**k move on their part. I mean if I come in and tried to make a warranty claim that my pads or rotors are all worn out after a track day and they deny that on the basis that track day wear is not covered, that I would be perfectly OK with (not that I would do that, I know that is silly).

Sorry to have derailed this thread a little bit off topic
So, else is gonna sign up to join us Nov. 3 at Laguna Seca?

I got my eye on 9/27 but not with FR-S. I'm eager to test out some pretty significant hardware upgrades in my other car. MRLS in FR-S is possible if Toyota offers reflash by then.
