My Daily Acquisition(s)
Need to buy new seats. So I also require that special socket tool to remove the E10 Torx Security bolt that secures the OEM seats.
![]() I bought them from "MALz" for the low price of $6.99. Not too bad! Also bought these over the phone from VELO Racing Australia. Just under $800 for the GP-90 seat(pic below) including aluminium side mounts(500g) and freight. ![]() The seat weighs 7.6kg, so I think at least a 9/10kg weight saving over the stock GTS heated seats(20kg). I wanted originally to get the "Milano" seat, but that is a 'bottom mount', not a 'side mount' like the other seats. Ie you aren't able to change the incline of the seat. Seat should be arriving by Friday in time for my local DE/Skidpan/Track event.

My latest daily acquisition..
New 8.8 grade HTS tow bolts. M16x1.5 30mm threaded-to-da-head bolts. I would have bought Titanium, but I was keen to get my strap fitted asap.

CP-R's fitted with brand new PS3 225/50/16 :D
Bought some Michelin Pilot Sport 3's from Kaltyre in Redcliffe today. $225 per corner, supplied and balanced(I do the fitting myself now because I'm so anal about people working on my car - plus its MUCH QUICKER to just drop off the wheels, and come then back the next day(or couple hours) to pick them up instead of waiting around. I'd still recheck and re-torque the lugs anyway).
The tyres are 225/50/16, giving them a nice chunky race-look(hey I'm a ricer at heart sometimes ) Interestingly enough.. the weight of my WedsSports TC105N plus tyre is actually LIGHTER than the weight of my SprintHart CP-R plus tyre>Weds + 235/45/17 PS3 = 17.8kg CPR's + 225/50/16 PS3 = 18.6kg Maybe be the possibility of a heavier rubber compound? I am not sure, regardless the ride on the 16's is nice and SMOOOOTH(or I must be getting old). And funnily enough, the acceleration from the 16's is slighty faster(although they are a heavier wheel/tyre combo). This may be due to the fact that the main 'mass' of the wheel is centered towards the center, so less centrifugal forces needed to act to spin the wheel. ![]() I will nevertheless have to look into using a much lighter rubber compound(and that is suitable for track) for the next set. I think I will use these as my daily's as the ride is that comfy, and the acceleration feels slightly faster too, and I don't have to worry about kerbing the wheels.(I'll probably get the CP-R's refinished when the PS3's wear out, get it done properly) Here's a crappy pic from my GS2 with them fitted at work: ![]() I did the obligatory tyre paint pen writing: ![]() EDIT: Uploaded some more pics below ![]() ![]()

TRS Tow Strap Installed
Since buying the nuts from the previous post I thought it'd be a good idea to install the TRS tow strap after 5-6 weeks of receiving it. Track day coming up this Sunday so might as well install it. Hope to never use it though.
Alot of stuffing around with cutting the foam with the box cutter. Spent a good 15mins cutting the foam so the triangular bracket would fit. If your anal about the foam being cut perfectly you can remove the bumper, but I did it this method as its quicker and easier for me. Here is a photo of the foam that you need to cut. Credit to @JD86 for the pic which I cropped ![]() ![]() ** Careful you don't cut the tab for the front tow hook cover fascia, I almost cut it straight across ** In the end, I discovered I bought the wrong damn bolts ![]() I need 60mm long bolts instead of 30mm. I'll update this post once it's all installed correctly.. ![]() ![]() Almost cut the hook that retains the front fascia. ![]() ![]() In the end, I discovered I bought the wrong damn bolts ![]() I need 60mm long bolts instead of 30mm. I'll update this post once it's all installed correctly.. - - - - - UPDATE - - - - - Went to COVs Fasteners this morning before heading into work. This time I bought three types of bolts of various lengths: 50mm, 60mm and 70mm. All M16x1.5 metric pitch. Grade 8.8 S/Steel. A comparison of the bolts: 30mm on the left, 50mm, 60mm, 70mm and Original Tow Hook I ended up using the 50mm bolt ![]() Finally Installed ![]() Tow flap hanging out of the hook recess ![]() TRS Tow Strap all snuggled up and shoved back into the recess.

VELO Racing Seats(ADR Approved)
My seats just arrived an hour ago.
Need to shoot off to JayCar and buy some 3.3Ohm resistors to fool the Airbag sensors though. Some piccies: ![]() ![]() Well packaged ![]() Green bubble wrap contains the aluminium side mounts for the seat ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Rails are aluminium, I opted for the UNDRILLED base as I am using BRIDE rails. I have to drill them so they fit. ![]()

VELO Seat Install - Attempt #1
Well.. took me about an hour and a bit of mucking around. Around 30 mins undoing the clips/sensors under the seat. And around 30 mins stuffing around trying to see which bracket(VELO or BRIDE) that I could use with the seats.
Installed the seats using the supplied BRIDE right angled steel rails, but that causes the seat mounting width to go over by 15mm-20mm. Installed the seats using the supplied VELO right angled aluminium rails, but that causes the seat mounting width to go under by 15mm-20mm. I might have to re-adjust the width of the original bride rails with bracket tonight to their most narrow position(I only fitted the seat to the BRIDE rails as a 'test' fit - I didn't adjust the width of each one as I was running out of time and had to go to work.) Other than that. I might have to do a hybrid of VELO Aluminium rail on the left side, and BRIDE rail on the RIGHT side( The rail slider adjustment actually hits the VELO side mount bracket which is quite unfortunate ). Some pictures. MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG THE BATTERY FROM THE CAR One of the most trickiest part of the seat change over is unclipping the sensor/power wires from the seat harness. It really helps if you undo the black clip holding the bulk of the 3 wires first too, will give you more play to unclip the 3 clips. See annotated picture below.. ![]() ![]() YELLOW Clip is for the Airbag sensor WHITE Clip is for the Seatbelt sensor BLUE Clip is for the Heated Seats ![]() All clips are undone, seat is able to be removed. ![]() A good idea is to have a piece of plastic or carpet or towel or something to stop you from accidentally scratching or damaging your drivers/passenger side door sill(see picture) Seat completely removed with the 3 plug harness lying on the floor. Would be a good time to vacuum the carpet too.. ![]() 3.3 Ohm resistor to fool the Airbag sensor(Yellow Clip). If you have a higher wattage resistor you can just plug them in straight away, but I had some lower wattage ones so I had to double fold the wires so they would sit nice and tight in the connector. ![]() I was going to use some blue-tac/plasticine to hold the resistor secure, but didn't have any. I made do with some tissue and some plastic tape.. nice quick and easy dodgey styles.. I'll re-do it after track day. Was just rushed for time. ![]() Here is the Drivers Seat. You will have to remove the side seatbelt buckle AND the seat belt sensor. This needs to be transferred to the new seat. Most of the time spend is unclipping the clips and trying NOT to damage them. The big round plastic panel to the right of the nut(holding the buckle assembley) can be pried up and popped out to remove the wiring harness for the belt buckle. ![]() Test fit of the left side seat with the original belt buckle(with seatbelt sensor installed) ![]() Australian Made ![]() AUSSIE AUSSIE AUSSIE!! ![]() VELO Racing ADR Compliance sticker. This is the main reason I have chosen these seats. They are bucket racing seats, but are fully ADR approved. Ie.. you cannot get defected for these 'aftermarket seats'.
