Sold my 2001 a year ago for $9,500 with Volk TE37s. It was perfect in every way and totally stock minus the wheels and springs. In over 6 years and 60k miles I never had a single problem with anything. Those cars are just such super deals, I really don't think the FR-S will be quite as good, but I require a back seat now. Even a tiny one is ok so I'm really hoping this FR-S can remind me of the good old days in the S2K.

Hmm, is it bad if probably an S2k or a kouki s14 are my second alternatives from an FRS/BRZ?

Still like them though. I've seen so many badass ones. Just not my cup of tea
The simultaneously best and worst part of the S2000 was the engine. The engine is the main reason that car was so expensive...and also the reason it was awesome. 700hp turbo on stock internals? YUP! I don't believe the boxer 4 will take that kind of abuse, but I hope.

Driving home the other day I saw a silver AP1 with a For Sale sign in the windshield. It took EVERYTHING I had not to pull over and check it out.

The best part was a balanced chassis with an awesome engine.

The bad part was it was not a fixed top and it was expensive.

However if it was cheaper, you would probably see more s2000 than 350z on the road.

Drift tax on an S-chassis is ridiculous...

People are converting zenkis to koukis and pricing them like they were original koukis..

7-8K for a stock 95' or 96' w/ unpainted front end conversion, oxidized paint, slight quarter panel denting and 150-200k miles..

Hell, people are even asking 4k for a stock S13 in the same condition (minus the font end conversion)

I think prices on the S2k are much more reasonable for what you get.. It's sad because I really love the S-chassis..

I don't plan on taking it to drift or tracking any of my future possible cars. I mean here in FL, I've seen some good deals on kouki's and zenki's, but their are a lot of S13's. Who knows, I just hate the fact insurance on S2k are killer.

A couple of people have said this. Yeah, it was more expensive than . . . the Miata.

Sorry.. I didn't mean drift tax in the literal sense..

I'm out in Southern California where it's "Totally boss" to drive around in a bumperless S13 hatch with dents in the quarter panels the size of your head and painted in neon zebra stripes..

"Drift Tax" is basically the term used to explain why a 23 year old car in horrible condition with 200k+ miles on it goes for 3-4K out here instead of <1K. It's mainly due to drifting getting popular some years ago and Initial D fanboys.(being very general here..) (Similar to why an AE86 goes for a premium as well)

Haha,

Yeah you'll get that.. Not everyone tries to sell for an outrageous price.. but typically you'll have search for awhile before you find one in decent condition for a decent price.

I still love the S-chassis though, so many parts available for it you can do virtually anything without having to fab up your own stuff.

..Sorry to go so far OT
