I would require some kind of performance metric before making the claim that a particular coilover system makes a car faster. A car can feel stiffer and more responsive yet still be slower through the corners. Slalom test, skid pad, lap time, autoX... Something of that nature needs to be used to prove performance has been added.

In terms of coilover adjustability.... It is paradoxical to me that people buy these adjustments yet have no idea how to use them. If you don't know what to adjust on the coilovers in order to get a particular result you are better off not having all the adjustment in the first place. Or you better be ready to learn.

In regards to adjusting ride height, this adjustment alters handling rather significantly. The lower you go the more you change suspension geometry. If these changes are not corrected for your car will handle worse than stock... Guaranteed. It may feel faster, however, because of how low and stiff the car has become. If you lower it to the point that it is riding on the bump stops it will feel like it is on rails (to the novice), but performance will be degraded drastically.

I am not trying to crap in anyone's cereal. I am just trying to make the point that there is a LOT to consider when modding your suspension.

I fully understand what your saying and I respect your opinion. But, did you read my post where I talked about my recent cars? I traded a Ferrari in that I did my own work on and that came STOCK with coilovers. I also was drifting before the first ever drift showoff came to the states back in 2003. I had my first set of coilovers in 2004.
Been in this game a long long time. I mean maybe your posting for the newbies. I don't know. And I agree in a lot of ways with what your saying. I am just making sure you aren't directing it at me.

I recently installed these on my frs a week ago, i have about a 1 finger gap all around, and im about 5 clicks from the softest setting, but it just feels dead in the rear, when i hit a ripple or harder edge bump in the road i have a very loud clunk, and hinestly feels like i have 1" of suspension travel, it does not bounce and i am ok with the firm ride but i feel like something in thr rear is not set up right.....

Any ideas? Ive been in the import car world for over 10 yrs but never had a problem like this before.

The spring may not have any preload. That's what it sounds like to me anyways without seeing your car.

Makes sure all your bolts are tight. Clunking tends to happen when something is loose..

Which is also why I went with Megan's. Typically you want to swap shocks/struts at around 30-50k miles. So probably close to the three to five year mark. My feeling is if you get three years out of them that is pretty typical of a standard strut anyway.
As far as the Koni/spring out performing I can't say I agree. A long time friend had a 93 Integra and I had a 92. He had the Koni/spring set up and I had megan ez street coils. I genuinely and honestly can say they were about the same feel and handling. That is strictly my opinion though.
And my FRS ABSOLUTELY handles better than it did stock so I really disagree with that claim 100 percent.
i think the big issue with koni/spring vs coilover debate is that when you piece together a coilover, you run the risk of giving your shock too much or too little spring to handle. i can assure you that koni has a better track record than megan. that doesnt mean your findings werent true. i just think koni makes a better product based on results.

well your ferrari and just about 99% of the cars on the market come stock with coilovers. the fact that the ferrari had height adjustable shocks from the factory is badass. now i want one.

I guess I should have said adjustable coilovers. Anyway I agree 100 prevent that Koni strut wise is better. I am just saying my results. I also had found his car to be really stiff for some reason. Maybe it was how he had his konis adjusted.

I did my research on springs for the FR-S as soon as I got it and from what I read Eibach Sportlines were the lowest drop you can get with springs for the FR-S and that's why I bought them. They've settled and I would approximate a 1.8" all around, but its not low enough for me, especially since I've upgraded my wheels & tires. I'm sitting on 18x8 / 18x9's now and it definitely picks the car more up. Honestly, I want a clean 2.5 - 3" drop all around and I cant achieve that without coils.
so u got springs? how much drop from the Eibach springs? i might do that instead of the coilovers. how was the ride quality? better? worse?

Here are mine about half way down. If you want you can pretty much sit the car on the ground with the street series.

I have tracked, autocross, and drifted my car with these on and I have also been in a lot of cars that opted for koni. I like Megan better on the track and drifting but worse at autocross. Megan struts don't like sudden shock from jerking the wheel so not the best pick for autocross. They are however getting me around the track faster then stock and faster then lowering springs and a few outer setups I have seen out there. Not a bad choice for someone looking to not break the bank.

Eibach Springs are about 1.8" dropped all around once settled. Honestly, I like the ride better with these on then stock springs.
