I wasn't really in the market for a "new" car since the car I had prior was in good working condition as a commuter, a 2006 RSX-S. But once I found out the twins passed vaporware, I was intrigued, and it was love at first sight when I saw one on the showroom floor in my local dealership. I walked into Subaru as I was having the RSX serviced May of last year and they had the car that was going from dealer to dealer at the time.

Same situation for me actually, I have a 2002 RSX-S and am still pleased with the vehicle and still driving it to the not-so-friendly areas of austin. I just knew i wanted something new as a token of the first job I got out of college. |

You will not be disappointed. Same power (stock), same fuel economy, better handling, RWD.

I was in the market for a new car with my Supercharged tc finally died. I considered a 2012 WRX, 2011-up VW GTI, and 2013 Genesis Coupe.

Used:
Nissan 370z (this is where I started actually) WRX STI Evo Cayman S (yes, you can get Caymans for under $30k) S2000 (good luck finding one in decent shape or not clearly abused) New: Civic SI Focus ST I think everything started few years ago when I was in college and test drove a Civic SI, I always wanted one. Still do in some respects, I don't know why. I briefly considered American Muscles like used GT and SS. Mainly the GT since for July-August they were running discounts that put a new GT base for $28k. I even considered a V6 Mustang to completely mod it to hell. But then I test drove the American "icons"... yeah...no thanks....no thanks.. Then I realized I wanted a new car, not used. Since this will be my toy car, then that pretty much came to RWD vs FWD... easy choice. |

I am still trying to make my decision so maybe you guys can help me out. Even though I'm sure everyone here is biased.. LOL. I would only consider a BRZ limited as I prefer a car with a nice interior. But I must say the interior is the one thing turning me off the BRZ. IMO, it's horrible. I hear nothing but bad things on touch screen system (is it really that bad?), the interior looks so basic, the seats aren't full leather, no steering wheel controls and no armrest? I don't race or track my car. I really just want a car that looks good and gets good MPG's. I have a 140 mile commute a day so I want a comfortable ride. Plus it may go on some road trips every now and then with my GF. So, is the BRZ too much of a "drivers" car for me? Is the interior really that bad or can I live with it on a daily basis?
The only other cars I'm considering is something along the lines of a Fiesta, Focus, Sonic, Civic, etc.. Just to get something basic to commute with. And the $10k+ plus I save from a BRZ I could save and use towards my future such as house, wedding, etc.. Not getting the BRZ is the better financial choice but I feel this may be my last chance to get that "cool" sports car for awhile. But is it for me? I want to see the new WRX. If it looks good and gets good MPG's, I'd be all over it. I like the look of the current WRX but it's 25?mpg highway rating doesn't do it for me. Plus I need an Auto as my GF drives my car as well. Opinions? Thanks! |

What you need is a commuter, specially with that kind of mileage. Most importantly, because you are clearly not an enthusiast. You care more about practicality and creature comforts. This car was made for people that enjoy driving, not for people that have long commutes. Some people might get by having a BRZ as their only car, but that's because they can only afford one car, and they rather trade daily practicality and creature comforts for the pleasure of driving, or taking the car to the track on the weekends. Get yourself a Acura ILX if you are looking of a mid $20ks car that looks "sporty". Or if that's a lot of money, get yourself a Honda Accord Coupe. Hyundai Genesis looks more of what you are looking for. But this car is far from what you are looking for, very far. |

I've test driven the BRZ 2x and loved it. Manual and Auto, both fun. It's just the interior that gets me. It's not something I paid much attention to on my test drives because I was too busy having fun driving it. Thanks to the sales guy letting me have a nice 15-20min or so test drive. So might be fine at first but down the road am I going to start to miss all the comforts and amenities it lacks? There's always aftermarket I suppose. But I feel that's uneccesary $$ that you should get in a $29k car. With my stang I had a Nissan Versa as a DD but now I just want one car that can be fun and sporty but also make a great DD and commuter. |

Not that I want some kind of crazy interior with all the gadgets and gizmos. I like Basic. My Mustang I opted not to get the MyFord Touch system. Has bad reviews and just wasn't needed. As long as it has a radio and AC I'm good. I'd much prefer the BRZ with a basic radio sytem not the nav touch screen. I guess that's the main thing that gets me. That and the quality just isn't very appealing. The other stuff I think I can live with. Do you ever miss the interior from your Lexus?

One thing I would say coming from a 2010 mustang, is that the interior fits my style much better. They are comparable in terms of the amount of cheap amterials used on the interior, but I feel the brz is more conventional in terms of features (I had leather etc. in the mustang). I can tell you I very much prefer the simplicity of the interior of these cars over all the amenities that tend to dull the driving experience for me. That's actually the reason I went with the frs over the brz. |

I've driven almost 30k miles on my fr-s, so yes it can be driven for long periods of time. i would say that I find the seats to be more comfortable in this car than the stang. I cannot answer about the nav system, I bought the frs
