Look guys what I don't understand about the cricket problem is Toyota made a TSB for this on September 26, 2012,
so why are the cars still being made with these bad fuel pumps..??

S-SB-0023-12 September 26, 2012

Abnormal Chirp or Squeak Noise from High Pressure

Fuel Pump

because it's a service bulletin, not a recall

My point is if Toyota knows it's a defective fuel pump so why keep making the cars with this same part.

Unless they don't really have a fix and posted the TSB just to make the customers think there was a fix.

Has anyone else noticed some drivetrain slop in theirs. It is definitely evident in first and second gear on mine. Feels like when I had a bad driveshaft in my RX7 and it had a little play in it. The transmission is very noisy and sounds like a transmission with some serious milage on it instead of a new car. Just curious if anyone else has noticed this. It could be normal for these cars, but I am not used to it.

Mine does a chattering noise sometimes when shifting 4th 5th and 6th at about 4500 RPM

Mine is more like a click and loud gear noise on acceleration, as if there is play in it somewhere. Well I am going into the dealer tomorrow to have the chirping looked at anyway. They better not try and give any run around either. I am going to keep making noise up the chain until it is fixed for good. I don't care how many fuel pumps they have to replace!

Because Toyota noted it and hoped/assumed Subaru would get their vendor to fix it properly. It was fixed improperly, by adding a magic green dot to it I hear.

There's a lot of complication to the relationship that gave us this car. I read between the lines of Tada's latest interview that leads me to think Toyota has grown weary of the collaboration. Basically when he said they would not consider a boxer engine for the next 86 and the on-going struggle and debate of NA/Super/twincharger/Hybrid (Toyota) v. Turbo (Subaru). Too many chefs in the kitchen and the two teams of sous chefs speak different languages w/ different practices and procedures.

Perhaps it should have been something more like the BMW/Toyota deal where each will make their own car. End semi-OT rant.

I was watching The movie Casino tonight and couldn't help but feel like De Niro when he goes into the kitchen and tells the chef he wants an equal amount of blueberries in each muffin. That will be me in the dealership tomorrow. I don't care how many fuel pumps it takes, I want those crickets out of my engine!

Zero driveline slop including one track day but I mostly used only 3-4 gears there. Tranny is silent with Redline MT-90 and was before changeout from OEM lube. I'm participating in a Porsche Club autocross later next month that will involve lower gears so might have an update for you after hopefully pissing off Cayman owners.
