The only known instance thus far of issues with 85 were from Robispecs car. He had also run racegas, amongst other things in the quest for power. I have run 85 almost exclusively over the last 22k miles and am fine so far. Oter owners that i know of have left 85 in their tank all winter while it was in storage with no problems.

Sounds promising. So I know you run the fuel low before switching fuels but how "simple" is it to switch tunes on the fly. to and from e85 would be my situation. I have nothing but 93 octane in my area so I'm really trying to decide if its worth it to find e85 or just get a 93 tune. 200whp is my goal over the next year, hence why I joined this thread.

Some tuners will get you both a 93 tune and an 85 tune either for a discount or the same price as just getting one.

I run my tank below empty and then fill it up with 85. Then i just switch my maps. It's that easy.

Do you have to bring a laptop with you to the gas station or is it just on the ECU chosen through the turn signal stalk like I'm used to with VW

Map switching is done via the cruise control stalk

I've been really pleased with @moto-mike 's tuning work via Moto-East. I measured roughly 190 WHP running his E85 tune, which he was cool enough to include as an option alongside his 93 octane tunes on the same ROM file. Only a CAI and axleback to supplement the tune. Header might put it just over 200whp.

No issues with his tune at all, great customer service, fast responses.

How did you go about getting his tunes? Sounds pretty much exactly what I intend to do. Axle back in less than a month for sure.

How does the tuner go about retuning anyway? You just tell them what bolt on you add, they charge you $50, and email you the new map?

Most tuners like FA20Club and Visconti do not charge for updated tunes, except for forced induction. I believe Moto-Mike is the same www.fa20club.com would be my vote. They're another fantastic vendor, support wise, and offer most aftermarket components as well as tunes.
