Actually there were a couple Porsche, zr1, gtr, z06, but the track was really right and those big cars couldn't maneuver inside.

Super Stock prep Z06 or GT3 can be the fastest car of the day even on a tight course. The cars that make the most grip period can still do it on a tight course with a proper driver.

Regular 911s, zr1s and GT-Rs are NOT good autoX cars though. Generally it's not size that makes a car slow at autoX, it's weight.

My guess is the faster drivers were in the slower or best prepped cars. Still seems like basically zero competition compared to SF SCCA region or local clubs. AutoX might not be very big in the Vegas area.

The SCCA SFR is known for producing national champion drivers and I certainly take that competition for granted.

Well if it was the same course as 86expo that is one hell of a time. The FT86 speed factory time was a 53 I believe. And I think they are beyond stx prepped, but I could be wrong.

If it was an SMF civic (can't think of whatever class would be fastest time with a FWD car, most people don't take FWD to prepared classes) it would be 5 seconds up on a STX FR-S over 45-50 seconds on an average style course.

There is a SMF CRX around here and it's about 1,900lbs has 200HP and is on race tires.

However it's not likely the same course even if similar. I've never seen that at autoX ever.

No, I went back and checked my time slips from 86EXPO and I was getting down to 47.9xxx on my best lap. I think the FT86SF car's best time was 43 or 44. So yeah actually that Civic was not particularly fast, IF that is in fact the same exact track layout.

Your right. Lol. I should have looked at my times first.

Does anyone know of good places in the area for star viewing? Preferably within 75ish miles of San Jose.

top of Mt. Hamilton must be decent, otherwise they wouldn't have an observatory up there.

Lookout point off of Stage Rd or something (forgot the name) but it overlooks the entire valley w/o the drowning of city lights. Otherwise, if you want almost 360degrees of the bay, "the wall" off of Skyline Oakland. Clear night, you can see all 3 bridges plus.

whoa, while I was out leading the crew on a DRIVE on Saturday, I missed out on the demolition of an East Bay landmark right near my house... felt weird driving by the campus this morning and the building was just... gone.
