Exhaust
I have listened to countless exhaust clips, but I need to hear some in person. I'm specifically looking for UELs combined with whatever catbacks. I need the boxer rumble, do not want the inline 4 sound, so no ELs. I'm looking for something with a nice rumble but not obnoxiously loud. What setups do we all have?

Turbo kits normally don't have much to do with the "boxer rumble". However, all the AVO kits do have an UEL configuration(I believe). The borla UEL does sound great, but their quality has really been questioned with the header they made for the twins. I was going to get one myself until I read about all the issues they were having.
There are other options. JDL and Rev Works make a UEL headers that sound pretty good too, as I'm sure you have heard on youtube. I have a Rev Works header that was hopefully shipped out today. I'm hoping to have it on before the next big meet (whenever that may be). Your best bet will be to come to one of the bigger meets and listed to what everyone has. I currently only have the borla cat-back so that wouldn't help you much in your search.

Self-serving but I love the way my car sounds now with the AVO. I sound like a very angry Impreza. I have Perrin Overpipe and Catted Front-pipe + Mach V muffler delete. There's a lot of folks around here with UEL headers that you can hear.
What I will say is I'm definitely not quiet.... If you want quiet then you should get UEL headers and just leave the rest alone. |

I'm leaning toward going with a UEL with stock exhaust. But I fear that will be too quiet. This is the setup I would love to hear in person, as videos can only do so much.

Are you disappointed with it? I came very close to grabbing one myself. I do hear a lot of people are having better experiences with them now that the first run has been sent back by virtually everyone.

No i love mine! It came with grimmspeed gaskets and i havent had any issues with leaks. The dots were because of the negative experiences you mentioned others having that i was unaware of.

I have the revworks UEL, perrin overpipe, invidia catted front pipe and ft86 speedfactory catback and i am extremely loud and everything over 3k is really raspy. I took off my catback for a couple of weeks and put the stock one back on and even with the header it was just barely louder than stock. Id reccomend finding the quietest resonated catback out there and trying that with a uel. To bad you didnt post this a few days ago as i just put my catback back on on wednesday
