When the 370z first came out, most people gushed over it the same way they gushed over the FT86 platform. The FT86 is just a newer platform. In a few years the reviewers will be gushing about the "next big thing".
They are just different cars that approach being a sports car in different ways. Some people want more power and there is nothing wrong with that. But you do give up some of the handling dynamics in the FT86 platform for it. I would prefer to drive a 370z vs any of the American muscle cars anyday. |

If the rumors of the 2015 Mustang losing a minimum of 400lbs then I think both the 86 and the 370z should be worried.
There are also rumor of it getting a 300hp ecoboost 4 cyl and a eco boost v6. If it can touch 3000lbs with 300hp and add in the independent rear suspension Ford may have a real winner on its hands. |

I hope Hyundai and Nissan can drop 350 lbs from the GC and the Z. I feel that's the only "REAL" negatives with those cars. All the other small negatives is easy.

The curb weight for the 3.8 MT is 3563 and the AT is 3613. Wowza that is heavy! You make some small mods to the 86 and you can have her dip under 2700lbs. That puts the current Hyundai close to 1k heavier than the twins. |

I wouldn't call a terrible MT transmission a small negative in a sports car

Awesome you know of owners that do that and love it. I know of some and thats not the case but not only that but here is 106 pages of people with tranny issues http://www.gencoupe.com/engine/23124...issues-77.html I just stopped at page 77 LOL Hell even the autos are slipping and thats the brand new 2013 http://www.gencoupe.com/3-8-v6-discu...corporate.html According to their own forums about 50% have issues on their 2013 car (with the brand new revised MT) http://www.gencoupe.com/2-0t-discuss...es-anyone.html If you look at their engine tech forum 25% of it is tranmission issues EDIT: Don't get me wrong I actually like the Gen. If it looked like the last gen with tthis current gen engine I might not be in a 86. Hunydai can't make a transmission tho they are still too new to it. Had they just bought them instead I'm sure the GC would of been much much better car.
