Let us know what the investigation turns up. The possibility that this could happen to an OEM car has not been ruled out and is a scary prospect to consider. I'm going to be checking under the hood regularly until there is an official report out.
I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think there has been a single thread about a bone stock car catching fire. Thousands of cars sold, I'm sure collectively over thousands and thousands of miles, I'm not popping my hood any time soon.

If you click on the link in the post that reverts to the original thread, it says the owner took it to a dealership to have the "crickets" taken care of, and then after driving it caught fire. Could have been a mistake on the technicians part but given your take on things the owner would still be responsible.

and your post proves nothing either. it's a video of someone crashing for an unknown reason, then the car catching on fire. nothing known if the car was stock or not. maybe if someone could translate japanese.

@Toma, dude just quit it. Joke's on you and it's getting old. Either post facts or an amusing picture, take your pick.

I had a good chuckle at this when adding tags to my vendor feedback thread:

Yes, the dealer did not install the new high pressure fuel pump correctly and the car burned to a crisp..

This could happen to any car. Even a Mustang....
