What I want to know is how many GBS BRZs made it to North America total for 2012/2013.
This discontinuation really makes me happy I jumped on my GBS

I'm curious for the numbers on North America total as well. But if I were to make an educated guess, looking at sales numbers now, the MY2013 BRZ will sell a total of around 10000-11000 units (off topic: this is less than new car arrivals such as the Tesla Model S which has sold 20,000+ in the same model year).

I think color schemes go something like this (read somewhere on the forum, I could be wrong but I've calculated this before & it makes logical sense)
WRB ~ 25%
SWP ~ 19%
DGM ~ 16%
CBS ~ 12%
SSM ~ 12%
GBS ~ 8%
LR ~ 8%

*LR will eventually outnumber GBS due to discontinuation

***Which means that there are ~800 units of GBS, at MOST 1000 members of the GBS mafia. (Speculative )

------

Let's say there are 1000 units. 2/3rds of them will be limited, and 1/3rd will be premium

333 premium
667 limited

Out of the 333 premium, 1/3rd will be automatic = 111.
Since the premium automatic is discontinued, the model & transmission is a double whammy with only 100-150 units of the car ever made... this turned into a calculation for myself

Took me 9 months to find a GBS locally. I'd seen pictures on the internet, but I didn't see it in person until the day I bought it. I didn't want to order it because I didn't really know how it would look in person. Given that SoCal has probably a dozen Suby dealers and it took me that long just to find the darn thing - I'd say those numbers are pretty accurate.

Still waiting to run into another GBS on the road. Not sure what the appropriate gesture will be when that happens. Maybe this?

your thoughts and my thoughts exactly. I have NOT seen a GBS at all in socal. Maybe we'll run into each other one day -- although if I drive it's mostly around in LA county. Seeing as how we have one of the highest subie dealers per square mile in the US... even seeing another GBS is extremely rare.

but yes, seriously : and

I'm really surprised that so few GBSes were sold. IMHO GBS, WRB and SWP are the car's best colors by far. The car looks great in GBS.

I think this thread helped me swap my decision a lot.

Pulled the trigger today while at work, trading in my 2004 WRX STi for a '13 GBS BRZ

ETA to my dealer is 9-3-13

excited!

When I pre-ordered my car I had never seen a GBS in person, and it looked purple in the early factory photos. Had I seen one in person, or had I seen some of the higher quality pics that are around now I probably would have had a much tougher time picking my color.

I agree. I've been back and fourth for a long time. I wanted WRB for the longest time...then began debating how loud of a color it is. GBS was always 3rd, behind DGM and WRB. For a while It had the blurple stigma for me, which I was hesitant about. In person though, its.....amazing.

Subtle, classy, but a ton of depth. I was originally aiming for a 2014 in a few months, but now with it going away Ive had to up my time table.

I am damn close to finalizing one in Colorado...

I think I can speculate what "shades" GBS goes through based on available lighting.

1. Under WHITE FLUORESCENT LIGHT AT NIGHT (LED or conventional bulb) the car looks borderline blurple almost Plasma-like color as seen on the WRX when captured on camera.

2. Under BRIGHT CALIFORNIA SUNLIGHT (on a clear day) looks oceanic blue, sorta like the BMW M3's Interlagos Blue Metallic. When the sun hits the pigments, it produces the brightest blue GBS can get.

3. Under OVERCAST conditions (cloudy, rainy, etc.), it looks like a conservative shade of blue.

Just washed mine for the first time. Bad lighting for photos, but kind of gives you an idea how it looks in direct sunlight and how hard shadows affect your perception of the color.

Soon enough you both will also be members of the organized crime syndicate.

(is there an official thread for that?)
