This isn't pointing blame at anyone, I am legitimately wondering who's insurance should be involved in this at this point. If it's the OP's insurance, then he's screwed for book value since I'm sure he didn't even have his additional mods (probably close to 10K worth) covered. If it's the shop's insurance, he might fare better as the shop should have sufficient liability to cover all of the book value and mods (especially if they installed them in the first place since they know exactly how much it's worth and can document that it's there).
shops ins should cover it if you ask me

Looking at it in a business aspect that would be the best thing for him to do i think if he doesn't want to lose customer but I think it might be way past that.
I think you may be surprised. I know how a majority have been viewing John lately, but I would be shocked if he didn't respond directly to this. Personal issues with his attitude/timeliness aside, if he's at fault, I'm relatively certain he'll take care of it. It's the only move that would be conducive to further business in this community. He already stated he would have an official copy of the investigation report.

John and Rich's major selling point since day one is the safety and reliability of their customer's vehicles. This unfortunate event is going to put the magnitude of their convictions to the test. Mistakes happen in this game, you have to pay to play, but how they react to this and other dissatisfied customers is what will show their true character as a vendor.

As another posted said, regardless of the validity of the negative perception, once one's reputation has been damaged it's nearly impossible to salvage it. It's very easy to lose favor and very difficult to regain it. They'll need to go very far out of their way to win back their previous status in the community, especially after charging people extra for "upgrades" that make the kit not a fire hazard. Wait and see. We may all be surprised.

It happened on MSF years ago, Visconti (or John@theShopCT depending on how you knew him) bricked a Speed out of Savannah, GA's ecu and it got swept under the rug, messed over a few more guys, and claimed no responsibility on any of them. Search it.

I'm not the type to slander but I knew from the first day I joined this forum and saw his name that it was only a matter of time.

Sorry for your loss man! I wish you the best of luck @brzturbo keep your head up.

I wish I thought this would awaken enough people to the truth about these sacred vendors, but I doubt it will.
I doubt it too. The business model of a forum, where money from vendors is far more important than the voice of reason or a service to community, is somehow succeding.

Agree 100%, if something is wrong good business is it should be fixed for free, no fees or shipping charges.

Bro, that's the "Stage 2" flexfuel package. Costs an additional $175. Worth it IMO.

But the owner that requested his car be modified is ultimately responsible.

You as the owner chose to significantly modify a vehicle that had entire TEAMS of engineers design it. Build it. Test it. Refine it. Test it some more. Millions of man hours.

We then aren't happy with the final product so we decide to spend a couple thousand modifying this sculpture. Hose. Fittings. Adapters. Metal tubing. Virtually all is made in China.... non oem. Not tested like the OEMs do...cause no one has that resource.

Fuck with shit and shit WILL go wrong. Hell it even goes wrong on bone stock cars.

As the owner... you are ultimately responsible and hope the parts and installers you have chosen are acting in good faith and double check every aspect of their work.

But there are still gonna be failures.

Like I said. It happened. It was a fluke or accident and nit deliberate that you can prove in a court of law. Be thankful insurance got your back and move on.
