Just got off the phone with Ishii Motor Industries. They're building a stockpile of IS300 differentials just for the purpose of swapping final gears out for our cars.

Good point...

I wonder if there's a way to tell gear & LSD. Some are for sale on the 'ol eBay--but some of theses sellers are clueless as to what's inside the pumpkin lol.

You're taking a gamble, but if the carrier still has the sticker on it, you want it to have one of the codes from the title of this thread. Those are the LSD versions.

Will i just bought a is300 m85 lsd differential for 350usd and will be swapping out the oem+ 4.67 mfactory differential.
I'll let you guys know if it fits or not.
Couldn't wait for someone to prove it out so i guess I'll prove it to myself if it's a direct bolt on or not.

If theres enough interest i can document the install and if it works, might be of some use to other turbo guys out there

Lil late to the party bud I've been running with the m85 3.73 diff for 7 months now. 100% direct bolt in they're the exact same third member in both cars, the only differences are that the lexus uses stub axles which u just pop out and the Lexus uses Allen headed bolts for the rear mounts where as our cars have 17mm hex head

No diy thread as I'm the kind of person that just likes to get shit installed lol. It's really not difficult, just got to remember to take the lower control arm and toe arm off the hub side so u can remove the axles from the diff.

I cant remember if I put it in this thread or not

Check my last post, that's a DIY thread on how to do the swap. The original guy who did it was really concise, but my stuff is kind of a cluster f@ck, so hopefully it makes sense and is helpful. Assuming that is what you are asking for.

Update an old thread, I just purchased a $99 Lexus diff off eBay. I thought it was going to be a 3.91 open and I was just going to pull the ring and pinion but upon arrival I found its a 3.91 Torsen LSD! The part number sticker is no longer there so I know this may not be a huge help but I'm pumped!

3.91 LSD should be M98, I was just under the impression it was clutch type

That's a nice surprise! My understanding is that none of the lexus rear ends are clutch type. Where did you read/see that they were?

You're boosted though right? So are you just going to bolt up this rear and for the longer gears?
