I found #1214 today at a lot in Minnesota. Poor thing had hail damage from last week. Damage wasn't too bad (nothing broke, no paint chips). Lots of small noticeable dimples. Mostly the hood, roof and back. Sides not at all almost. They had about 4k off the price + a $500 gift card. Good deal? Just alright?

Btw, first post ever

Hybrid does not = CVT. It's not even the same type of Hybrid, it's the KERS type system used in the LeMans car, which is not using CVT....

Welcome to the posting side of the forum!

Also, $4k isnt terrible, but considering my car was just appraised for similar sounding hail damage for $3700, you can bet that the costs of repair are going to be close to the amount they are giving you, especially if its a body shop that has never worked on the car before. When I had hail damage this past May, the total bill was over $4300 all said and done. If I were looking at this car, I'd ask for at least $5k off.

You might be confusing a race car with a road car. What streetable Toyota or Lexus hybrid does not have a CVT?

The rumored THS-R driven prototype is probably an 830 hp racing application.

http://www.thedetroitbureau.com/2013...rt-motor-show/

The rumored road car is a 400 hp street legal application with CVT.

"Unlike the rear-drive FT-HS, the new sports coupe (it's unlikely to be called Supra) would employ an all-wheel-drive system and generate upwards of 400 horsepower. The car is rumored to feature a mid-engine-mounted, 3.5-liter V-6 hybrid setup mated to a CVT lifted from the new Lexus RX, but tuned for higher performance. The engine would drive the rear wheels, while in-wheel electric motors would power the fronts. GRMN's expertise would be utilized to help develop the car."

Was the lot a franchised Toyota dealership or used car lot? I suspect the car was totaled and repurchased from an insurance company and offered for sale with a branded title and no warranty. I can't imagine a Toyota dealer offering a new car for sale with damage.

Walser Toyota is a dealership in Minneapolis.

The car isn't listed on their website however.

I'd be willing to bet because of the hail damage, plus they don't want every Joe Schmoe coming in wanting to test drive it. Just because they have it doesn't mean it has to be on their website.

The point is Hybrid does not necessarily = CVT as the actual car using the new KERS based hybrid system does NOT. Whether current cars all use CVTs and what 'rumors' of a future car from magazines that said no turbo, no extra power, and no convertible FRS would come is irrelevant to what is possible as the actual car using this very hybrid system is not using a CVT and doesn't have to. It seems that paragon of revolutionary technology Hyundai has figured out how to do this in the famed Sonata, so I assume Toyota might one day be able to follow, hehe.

If you want to change '=' to 'more than likely' or 'perhaps' then we can be on the same page.

Its on their website but with no indication of the series and hail damage. Heres the posting:

http://www.walserscion.com/wholesale...7412443696.htm

Thats the posting I saw first on Cars.com. Cars.com listed it as a 10 series. Went to check it out for the price and then realized why the mark down after I saw the hail damage!

We'll have a better idea about future hybrid drivetrains on September 10th but Holy Flux Capicitor, a 400 hp Yaris? Somehow I don't think so but it would be interesting to see something born out of the Toyota/BMW hybrid collaboration.

Actually that happens a lot in Minnesota. A local Chevy dealer had a big "hail damage" sale advertised on the radio this week. Brand new cars.

The car's value has forever been tarnished, I would ask $6K off the Fr-S, and the $500 gift card.
