I drove mine across the southwest on my last interval, engine had sand on it from being in the desert. It really needed an oil change sooner than 7500 miles, so I had it changed at 5000 miles.

I don't trust subaru corp.'s recommendation, this car needs regular maintenance sooner because of the way these cars are driven.

When I suggested 10,000 miles I was mistaken, apparently, mixing up my cars again. Two of our cars are on 10,000 mile or once per year, one is at 15,000 miles or once per year and the BRZ is apparently at 7,500 miles and twice per year. My dealer wanted me to come in four times per year!

Subaru recommends more frequent changes for severe conditions. What they mean by that is short trips. Atmospheric dust no longer causes any issues due to improved air filtration and sealed crankcases.

I know an Outback owner that does 10-12k mile intervals with Amsoil and always does uoa's. He will have to look to Amsoil instead of Subaru in the event of a warranty claim, unless he has the time and money to fight Subaru of America.

Also don't forget that 7500 is for "normal" driving conditions. Any of the ones they consider "severe" (and there are a ton of them in the manual that cover just about every driving situation in the country) throws it back to about 4,000 mile intervals.

I've went to the dealer at 1k and 3k and they still told me to wait till 7500. Im at 5500 something so i have a bit to go still. It just seems weird that it is soo long. But if it's in the manual then i hope everything is okay.
