It surprises me that CA of all states actually allows windshield tint.

it's not legal. Tint itself isn't technically legal in any % unless you have some skin disorder. That's also another thing, tint is just another reason to get pulled over by an ass hole cop if he feels like it.

I've been looking into lexan windows, even started a thread about it. The more I think about it, the more I lean towards actually doing it. Although I don't know how much the factory glass weighs yet. If I do go through with it, it'll definitely be way down the road. But I've been thinking about tinting it.

I agree, 100% clear lexan with the little slider window and a bunch of bolts everywhere looks tough as hell. But I'm also considering doing an A/C delete, so... heat.

Where i live heat isn't really an issue but now owning a black car, i know how hot it can get sitting outside at work for only like 30 minutes. I always lowered the windows like an inch or it boils in there.

I had 5% on my old Carlos sainz celica and never got bothered because I literally never had the windows up more than half when driving.
I found out that at night you really cannot see out and when someone has their headlights on you, all you see are two little circles.
Never again...just too dangerous.
Legal ftw

Visibility at night is why I say keep it legal. With 32% on the rear and side windows I have zero visibility problems at night.

I vote legal tint for your state. In NY it is 75% which is the stock tint. I decided not to get anymore because the car already draws attention and plus I drive a little over the posted limit at times...

I only got 1 tint ticket in my last car that metered at 21% but that was a family sedan

No N.C. is 35% tint and you need to understand the FR-S has pre-tinted factory glass.

Look here: http://www.tintlaws.com/laws/NC/

btw you don't want to play around with N.C. about illegal window tint.
