Yes, I'm modded, but not excessively so. Power-wise I have bolt-ons and a tune, so roughly 200whp. Suspension-wise a off-the-shelf coilover+sway setup. The tires I'm running for auto-X are comparably sticky to a stock E92's Continental Sport Contacts.

It is a fact that heavier cars don't do well in autocross due to all the high frequency transitions unless they have excessive suspension work done, so it takes longer for the weight to transfer and settle. That's why, regardless of the power advantage S2Ks have, Miatas tend to win STR. With all the higher power FFs out there, ST and SMF are still a spec 89 Civic/CRX Si class if you want to win, and with a properly set-up one, they can tend to hand Evos and STis their asses as well in STX.

If I'm beating the M3 by that much, it either has a very very bad driver, or is a pig that can't handle quick transitions. I'm calling it a pig based on that.
