Yeah, there needs to be like different versions of italics or something to help indicate tone of voice. I've seen many-a arguments break out on the internet between two well-intending people misunderstanding each other just because they were reading and not hearing.

It's particularly inconvenient to me, because I have a double extra dry sense of humor. So I'm constantly saying crazy shit without even realizing just how crazy it might sound to someone reading it. And I hate saying "just kidding" because I think it ruins the joke. Plus, half the time it's way funnier for me if I know people actually think I'm serious. It's the internet, none of this shit matters.

Unless it's a forum, where you might need help from the other members, so it's best to keep relations good.
