Wow...this is all too unfortunate. I almost pulled the trigger on these, but was unusually hesitant. Decided to spend the cash for an ecutek tune instead, but was almost regretting it until I checked in just now.

This really is too bad...I really did love the look of the ones posted up on the front page, even if they aren't the advertised product. I am not really satisfied with the other options because of their look, their brightness, or their light setups. This one kind of ticked all the boxes.

I am a little conflicted in how to feel about this. Many of the posts here are people complaining about a blind purchase without any sort of guarantee. That is inherently risky. Also, of course in CA you have to pay sales tax if the vendor is in CA. Where else have you bought something in CA that you didn't pay sales tax?

At this point, let me clarify something for people who think the internet is a tax-free shopper's delight and live in CA. There is something called "use tax", very similar to sales tax, with the exception being the end user will pay the use tax and the supplier collects sales tax. With use tax, you have to report your purchases to the BOE or risk fines if caught. Generally, they don't care about little purchases such as a set of taillights, but just be aware of the law. Nearly anything that sales tax can be applied to can have a use tax levied. These definitely apply. For more info., see www.boe.ca.gov/taxprograms/usetax/.

OTOH, 86_ZN6, this is not good business practice man. I understand you may not have all the details of the full production models, but in the interest of running an honest business, you should have full disclosure. At the very least, it should have been updated when it was pointed out that these are not official. Err on the side of caution.

As George Carlin said, "The person who coined the phrase 'Buyer Beware' was probably bleeding from the asshole."

Just a little sad to see this GB go south, but it happens sometimes. I know this puts a little stop on all of your projects for a while guys, but keep cool and just wait for the official TOM'S ones down the line. I will see you all there!

Oh, and last, thanks to @Gixxersixxerman for your thorough research. That quote above does not apply to you, buddy!

If I could edit it I would have helped. My bad, I didn't know you were on the phone.

We have spoken via PM a lot of times and I sense you are a good guy. It just irks me to see the full proof sometime ago but no correction on the thread. It might not even be your fault, this might be completely Helix's fault lying to you, but my advice to you would be if there is any doubt on any product in the future, better stop pre-orders and be completely upfront of the discrepancy immediately than risk being put in a situation where your business practices are being questioned.

Being COMPLETELY honest here, I LOVE the look of this Helix lights (IF in fact they end up being the lights in the below image).

Priced right, they would sell like HOT CAKES!

yeah i know you can only modify your own regional thread

finally edited sir!

here's the truth, last time i spoke to helix (couple of days ago), they themselves are still not sure if TOM's will grant them authorization and license. They said, negotiations are still on going.

But hey only time will tell. Maybe in one month ill have to change the title again to official? lol let's just hope for the best with these lights

they are great lights and awesome design.

so yeah i will try to dig in more info from the guys in taiwan

It's like a soap opera. If they turn out amazing or better yet officially licensed by toms I'll be thrilled. it just seems like the project really was in its infancy when the preorders started.

I guess I'll wait a while longer to find out what happens next. Not like we have a choice with the money tied up with Helix. And you seem like a decent vender who just got a little anxious with all the buzz surrounding the special edition limited production units.

Red face

almost pulled the trigger on these lights after reading the first 2 pages but for the heck of it, checked the last page and found this. dang , too bad...... would've been nice if it were official and Tom licensed products.
keeping my fingers crossed this goes through......knew something was up after page 2 and there were 8 more pages already posted(within a month).

Will be eager to see the final product before deciding whether to pull out or not. A bit suspicious if they're already in production but no word on whether they are TOM's approved pending further negotiation. If no news or final confirmation by the end of this month I would like a full refund.

Don't let it stop you, especially if you like the product

From what I hear, these are from a quality manufacturer.

If things fall through with these lights totally I would be down for that adjustment... but I can get them $450 shipped from the other group buy?

Exactly. No reason to buy them for $469 + tax (CA people) when you can buy them for $450-$460 total.

Except for now, these are the only ones with CLEAR (non-red) lenses.
