Which size are those wheels again? 17" or 18"?

Maybe because people, you for for instance, insist on completely ignoring or not understanding the concept of purchasing power/CPI.

Quote:
Technology and performance has trickled down over the years, and you get WAY more for you money these days. Using your CPI link a Porsche 959 would cost $462,000 in 2013 (was $225k in 1987). And yet, it's performance is eclipsed by a 997 911 Turbo, which cost around $120k in it's last year of production. So that's superior performance, for almost 25% of the price as the earlier model. My Integra GS-R was around $18k in 1992, which is $29,900 in 2013. A new Civic Si is $22,500, and it's performance eclipses the GS-R in every way. Why is this so difficult for some people to get? If Honda introduced a new S2000 tomorrow, identical to the one introduced in 1999, it wouldn't cost over $30k. Jesus...

Hmmm...10+ year old technology is cheaper than 0 year old technology if 10+ year old technology was RE-introduced today?

You're trying to combine two different metrics/concepts that describe two different things in a way that doesn't work.

For example: A 12oz can of Coke cost 50 cents in 1990. Due to inflation, that 50 cents spent on a can of Coke would have the purchasing power of 1 dollar today. You're saying that for a dollar today, you can get a 20oz bottle of Coke and a can costs 75 cents, so why should a can cost a dollar, which indicates to me that you don't understand how CPI works or are misinterpreting what it is.

I'm saying that when we consider inflation, the real value of an Integra is basically the same as a BRZ. You saying that no one in their right mind would spend $30k on a car with the stats of an Integra in 2013 says nothing about the difference in the real value/purchasing power of $20k in 1992 and $30k in 2013. A 93 MR2 Turbo had the msrp of about $25k, which is still about $7k more than your GS-R, closer spec'd to the Twins, and would translate into about 11k in actual value today. So what if you could get an S2000 for $30k in 2003 when in 2013 dollars, not technology, it would still cost $40k.

Yes, the price of technology drops as it gets older and you get more bang for your buck, but that doesn't change the cost/value when it was new, which the BRZ is and Integra, S2000, RSX, or whatever isn't. You're arguing for an inverse relationship where it doesn't apply. It's like asking why someone would spend $10,000 on a 286 Tandy computer today when they cost $3,000 when newly released and can get a new full gaming rig for $3000 that outclasses it in every way. No one is making that argument and it's a bit of a strawman.

I'm just a huge stickler for logical fallacies.

edit: Hahaha...right, non sequitur too

According to Japanparts.com, when trying to order a replacement grill for the JDM Legacy tS, you can only get the grill without the "tS" badge because getting the badge is: "impossible".

Why is Subaru holding out?! I want that badge somethin' fierce!

Might be a "proof you own the car and I'll sell you the badge" type deal from STI/SOJ.

The same argument would plague the BRZ will be used against the BRZ STI if/when it comes out.

For $27k~, why get a 200hp BRZ when you can get a 300hp Mustang/Camaro?
For $35k~, why get a 250hp BRZ when you can get a 400hp Mustang/Camaro?

Just wait for it.

Yes, this is true. But we will have soooo much more fodder for the FRS vs .... forum section.

I would respond the same as I do today.

I want a compact sports car not a muscle car. - when asked about a Mustang

I don't want a 2 ton squashed frog. - when asked about a Camaro

So for $10K more, I can own a car with brakes it doesn't need, nice seats replaced by also nice seats, a body kit, and a 250 unit production run?

Sorry, that's what I gathered from all of this. Now...why would you buy this?
