I would recommend trading it for an FR-S 10 Series first. They're worth a little more, so you'll get more for it when you trade the 10 Series in for the STi. The STi will make good value trade in for the BRZ later on down the road.

Then you'll be in a perfect position for when the BRZ STi comes out.

Nah don't. You're going to miss how the FRS handle unless you want to go fast in a straight line..

From a dig, especially. I was watching some UAE autocross on TV the other day, and the Evo's were completely massacring all the 2WD folks. For the most part, everyone was finishing within 3 or 4 seconds of each other, but the guy who got second place in an Evo was like 4 seconds ahead of third place, and first place (another Evo) was like .3 seconds ahead of the second place Evo. Of course, I don't know what any of the cars had done to them.

Classic apples and oranges. I own a 2008 STI and an 86. No intention of selling either one but if I do I might just part with the STi and keep the 86.
The 86 is basic (pure driving) fun. Simple, light and rear wheel drive.
The STi has been modified in and out and provides a more intense adrenaline rush.

Do not get. Searching yields lots of NBA results.

Still do not get.

I would wait too, but I suspect the production STi will look closer to what we have now than the concept. Which is too bad, because I love the concept..
