The best cheap diet is chicken breast, oatmeal, eggs, tuna fish, water. Multivitamin and fruit/vegetable to fill the micronutrient and fiber deficiencies.

If you are even 9% @ 172 lbs, you should be a very big guy then.

Can I be the judge of your 5.7% bodyfat(if ur 9% right now, thats fine too)?
Said I'd provide a photo

That was roughly 7 months ago about 3 weeks out from the end of a cut cycle (hence the lack completely visible lower abs) if I remember correctly I was 6.3% here. Typically I'll run 12 week cut cycles and weigh myself at the beginning of every third week on a rest day. I didn't take any pictures of myself at 5.7% but the difference was I had an actual six pack.

SO yeah right now I'm sitting at 172 and 9%, I wouldn't say I'm a pretty big guy but I'm noticeably larger than your average joe. I'm no shining example of physical fitness because as you can see I'm not completely shredded but I don't do half bad for a dude that was 200+lbs at my height with barely any muscle for a little over 8 years.

I'm done lifting heavy things to get back into my more aerobic work outs...300 routine and 19 minute 5k runs again (I was 195 when I taped at 11% for the Marine Corps in this condition).

Blown my shoulder and wrist twice now, trying to hit 400 on the flatbench (not strapped). Now I'm 215 lifting heavy and I'm only 5'8". Built like a little brick shit house. Makes tossing engines around really easy

That's my first weight loss plan LOL

I didnt know other countries used that term, i thought it was a UK thing

also is sushi bad for you? (not that i'd eat it )

you guys in this thread also all seem to know what you are doing or are already pretty trim/toned lol - i guess that is good and bad:
bad because it puts me off a bit
but good because it makes me want to try and catch up

I am 5'11 - 6'
185lb
and i think i was at about 18% BF when i measured on one of those electrical resistance scales

chest = 40"
jeans = 32"/34"
neck = 16.5"

my goal is to be:

chest - 42"
jeans - 30" - 32"
neck - same

not too bothered about how much i weigh as long as i go down by a couple of belt loops

I'm not pretending i know much about dieting or how to lose/gain size or weight, but i think my problem is mostly my diet - im really fussy with what i eat and i have some "naughty" meals a lot during the month, each week i will have 1 night indian food, 1 night chinese, then another night is usually a pizza or going out for a steak or something

I'm looking forward to seeing how everybody is doing :P

Whaaa no sushi is good stuff, you wouldn't eat it?
Admittedly, I'm Chinese and basically everything we eat is cooked, nothing raw, so I'm still not 100% comfortable with the idea of raw fish. But sushi can be pretty damn tasty.

I tried a cold salmon fillet at a michelin starred resturaunt over christmas - I i had one bite and could barely swallow it because of how gross it was to me!

Chinese food though - yum

Both Chicken and Eggs have gone up like crazy in price =/, almost double how much I used to pay a year ago here in NY.

I'm guessing those prices are already inflated in the first place based on your location.

I was doing great with my diet today and then just snacked on a bunch of raisins and pumpkin. Not the direction I want to be going.

I used to consume 1000+ calories in booze 4-5 times a week and I have cut that out so hopefully the slight slips will still not hold me back too much.

On the brightside I rode my bike 10+ miles and did shoulders and core for about an hour and the snacks werent horrible just not the best choice.

No biking today due to annoying gusty winds but it is chest day which is always one of my favorite days.

This is the goal. This shot was taken in 2009 and since then I have not been as cut but I have gotten slightly bigger. I just wish it wasn't so damn hard for me to put on muscle!

^ You hard gainers make me so emo . Hard to put on muscle but easy to get shredded once ya have some. I'm the opposite, it's not hard at all for me to put on muscle but I've got to calorie cut something serious (cheating being almost impossible) when I'm ready to cut =/.

But I have been working out fairly consistently for 5+ years and I am sure I am tiny compared to you. I am a blend of ectomorph and mesomorph so yes I am somewhat fortunate but I have to lift hard to see any changes.
