Why did you go with vortech over all the other choices?

Several Reasons.
1. Most complete and OEM looking boosted option out there. 2. A reasonably priced upgrade path for more boost. Just change pulley and tune. 3. Linear torque and power. We do a lot of road racing events and this is always nice to have. |

For a little more money you can have a more complete kit, 9PSI, and the upgrade path is a pulley and fuel upgrades. Not a total tear down again, like the Innovate will require. To us it makes sense to do the majority of the labor once. |

Alright, a couple more updates on the progress on the car and a few goodies that got thrown on with the supercharger.
Went with an upgraded Koyo radiator and Samco hose kits to dress up the engine bay a little bit ![]() The Koyo is pretty much twice the thickness of the OEM unit and should provide more than enough cooling, even with the amount of track time this car will see. Samco hoses in blue, who doesn't like a touch of color under the hood?? Next up is the installation of a Mishimoto Oil cooling kit. Comes with everything you need to install an oil cooler on your car. It's a great kit, but it was not designed with a Vortech kit in mind. So, we had to get a little creative with the mounting. First thing is the sandwich plate does not allow for larger aftermarket oil caps to be fitted. The sandwich plate is a bit wide and does not allow the aftermarket oil caps to be fully removed. We tried a couple other on our shelf and they were all too large. Not a big issue and we alerted Mishimoto about it and they are looking into a smaller sandwich plate for the kit. For now, the stock oil cap will do. Next up, the mounting plate. The mounting plate is designed to hang off the inside of the factory bumper beam. Basically, there was a 90* lip on the mounting plate that could mount of the beam. Since there is an intercooler in the way now, we had to mount the oil cooler in front of the beam. This meant cutting of the 90* bend and drilling straight into the bumper beam. Easy enough ![]() We are just buttoning everything up and double checking everything, at this moment. More to come, as always!! |

UPDATE!!! 8-5-13
We got everything, pretty much, wrapped up on this install. With the Mishimoto oil cooler installed and the Vortech kit in place, all we had left to do was start buttoning things up. The position of the oil cooler did give us an extra step to take while doing this. As stated before, the Mishimoto oil cooler kit was not designed to work with the Vortech kit and we knew that going in. This next step required us to cut out a portion of the lower bumper cover, as the oil cooler protruded into this spot of the cover. We traced out an area of the cover to get trimmed out and turned on the dremel. With that taken care of, we were able to get the bumper cover back on and get the car buttoned up. With a new base map flashed onto the car from Tony at FA20Club, we fired the beast up and everything was working flawlessly!! (that's a first) The car is undergoing more changes today as we get prepared for 86 Fest this weekend. We'll keep you guys updated and hope to bring you dyno testing and videos soon! |

Hey everyone! Back with another update.
We are, once again, headed out west to attend 86 Fest at AutoClub Speedway in Fontana, CA. Probably the biggest show for all things 86 and we are excited to go! With the show being what it is, we knew we had to step our game up a little bit. So, we threw some new goodies on the car and freshened her up with some new livery ![]() We will have a booth setup in the vendor village and will be sharing the space with AP Essex. So, make sure to stop by and check out all the parts we will have on hand. The silver car will be out all day giving ride-alongs to VIP, media, and attendees, so make sure you get in line for that, as well! New highlights for the car include the Vortech Supercharger kit, Mishimoto oil cooler kit, Sparco Evo racing seats, Essex Harness bar, and the new vinyl livery. See you guys soon!! |
