aftermarket lenses are pretty good you get a good bang for your buck. theres always a bad and a good when it comes to that. ive heard that some sigma and tamron are great when it comes to quality pictures and esp. tokina as well. i just got a wide angle tokina 11-16mm for my cousin for xmas(canon mount) i tested it and it was amazing. there was some distorsion at the corners when u use flash but to the normal consumer u cant even notice it. i shot with a sigma for a little bit. i sold it because i didnt like the focal length. it was pretty cheap. i want to say that the built quality and the material isnt as sturdy as oem like nikon but i heard nikon also breaks down or is a manufacture defect. all and all it depends on the person when it comes to aftermarket lens. its a 50/50 chance. i would love to get my hands on a 70-200mm f2.8 right now and the tokina 1116m wide angle but i have bigger things i need to save for. not only that i would like to invest in another prime lens like a 75mm or a 100mm and there are also external flash that i would like to get. when it comes to a hot shoe external flash i would get the same brand as your body since there arespeacial features that u can use from a nikon to nikon. idont really like aftermarket flash only because the oem flashes has a auto feature where it measure the focal length and that it also determines the output that it will release. back to after market lenses, i would buy the aftermarket lens if you are on a tight budget. if u have cash to spend buy oem =)

I keep going back and forth with selling off all of my SLR stuff or not..
I'm tired of lugging around a DSLR if I want photos of something but I don't want to give up all of that IQ and just get a P&S. I've been looking into Micro 4/3'rds systems and it seems to be a decent amount of give and take.. but the size still isn't pocketable. The Nikon 1J seems to be as close to the size that I'm looking for as I'm going to get, but geez.. the price for the features that are offered just seems off. I sold off most of my lighting equipment, my extra lenses and speedlights, but I'm thinking I'm going to be stuck with my 20D and 24-70mm forever lol. I just can't seem to find something that makes me want to give those up. |

I would suggest the Sony NEX-7, but that's a steep price. When it comes down to p&s I just stick with Cannon. Their Powershot cameras do a fine job for the money imo.

The first pic of the Evo after the jump is my favorite out of the bunch.
The day I can finally be more serious when it comes to photography I hope I do just as well compared to your work.

Wide angle shots were with my Nikkor 24-70mm ƒ2.8G, and the telephoto shots were taken with a Nikkor 85mm ƒ1.4G that I rented from BorrowLenses.com for a week.
