FR-S Borla Exhaust - Houston
Just got my new FR-S, reminds me so much of my previous 280z. Looking to put a catback on it - decided on either a Borla catback or a Perrin system. Even though there is a great collection of exhaust clips, still hard to compare apples to apples. Want a good deep sound, limited drone, not rapsy or overly loud.
One thing promoted on the Borla system is that there is a +4-6 HP/TQ increase at 4700RPM instead of all these other exhaust systems that promote their gains at 7000RPM. I was wondering if there is anyone in the Houston Texas area with either of these systems on their cars that I could listen too? |

I know you want to see them in person but I recommend the Perrin exhaust. It is fabulous and outstanding quality. It is the most enjoyable thing I have done to my car so far.
I dont know much about the Borla catback quality but if you research on these forums there has been quite a few quality control issues with their headers. |

Haven't heard the Borla but I love my Perrin. Sound is everything you're looking for.

I've had my Borla for almost a year and I've had no issues with it and it sounds great!

There's a good amount of Borla catback-only videos out there:
http://www.youtube.com/user/johnnypolidano/videos [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=emcgy73Qito"]2013 Scion FR-S Subaru BRZ Borla Cat-Back Exhaust System Part Number 140496 - YouTube[/ame] [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEZyXu5rdkc"]Borla R&D - 2013 Scion FR-S Catback - Revving & Drive By (PN-140496) - YouTube[/ame] I have a Borla catback and I think it sounds great and no issues here either. It's also one of the lighter catbacks out there, around 26-28 lbs. Most of the dual tip catbacks weigh over 30 lbs, some almost to 40. I'm not sure why the Borla isn't more popular... The UEL Borla header business, while it sucks that some of the products wasn't perfect out of the box, it proved Borla's excellent customer service plus their ability to uphold their warranty. I think they already helped out all the Borla UELs that had issues. |

I have the Borla system on my car. Dealer installed actually. Both the FR-S' they had on the lot had the Borla exhaust installed. I really like it, no where near the Houston area though.

I've gotten quite a few compliments on how my car sounds with the Borla catback. I think it is just the right amount of loud when driving around town, but quiet on long highway trips.
That said, the simple muffler delete option sounds very nice on this car, not too loud (from the outside) and is dirt cheap! |
