After 3,000 miles of silence my chirps have returned. Very faint in the car with the windows up and the stereo off, wouldn't notice with the stereo on, haven't bothered opening the hood.

Only change is I did drive up to 6,000+ ft above sea level from my regular altitude of ~10 ft.

All 91 octane E10 at the most convenient station, original pump, ~13k miles, 12/12 build. Will update according to changes.

:happy0180:

Edit: just took my friend for a ride, he doesn't hear it, he thinks I'm paranoid opened the hood and everything.

Started noticing the chirps today. About 2k miles. Oil has been changed once at around 800 miles. Subscribed. Will wait for a better fix, and point out to dealer next time i go in to get on record.

Subaru must have dropped some companion crickets off at my house last night, I heard em in their new home this morning at the Dunkin Donuts drivethru. 507 miles, filled up with Kroger 93 octane last night.

Doesn't seem too loud, only heard it when the car was next a brick wall I'm gonna leave it alone unless they come up with a guaranteed fix

They must have installed the giant cricket version on my car. It's super loud once the car is warm. I can hear them clearly even with windows rolled up.

I have the Mothra equivalent of crickets when my car gets warmed up on the green dot pump.

Yes, it is weird. Crickets showed up for me using 92 octane Sams Club gas over a week ago. Filled up with the exact same gas from the same store and the crickets were nowhere to be found yesterday...

These are some moody crickets...

Oh you mean something like this? With me I had the audio of a air plane going on over head and you can still hear it.

I think I might have found a temp fix for the crickets. I put 3 oz of this Name: uploadfromtaptalk1375419635758.jpg
Views: 750
Size: 7.6 KB in my tank. I haven't had crickets for the past 2 days. The longest trip I've had since I put this is an hour, which is normally long enough for the crickets to start. I have to drive from Atlanta to Charlotte tomorrow so I will know for sure if this stuff really works. The only other time I've been cricket free was when I was out of town and happened to stop at an ethanol free gas station.

I've been using that stuff my last few tanks to no avail. Seemed to work for like 2 days but that was all. The only thing that has shut my crickets up was using ethanol free 91 when I was traveling. I have zero ethanol free stations around me normally, and I always have the crickets. They stop within a 1/8 tank once I fill with E0 and don't come back until I fill again with E10 93.

3,369 miles: I first heard the chirping noise.
9,317 miles: I had Subaru replace the fuel injection pump, the source of the noise.
10,263 miles: The chirping noise came back
10,676 miles: Jim, Subaru Engineer, came down to inspect the car. We drove for 10 mins when the noise reoccurred, proving to him that it was indeed a problem. Jim said “the noise is not detrimental, but annoying” and asked me if I would like to replace it again for a better pump this time. So they replaced the part. Everything was good for about 10 days.
At 11,200 miles the chirping noise came back. FML!
I’m going to call Subaru first thing in the morning tomorrow and ask them if they have a permanent fix for this. Lets hope so.

10,000km+ and it's never even sniffed ethanol and of course, never chirped.

Just saying because some still doubt the cause.

You are wasting your time. There is no permanent fix at this point.
