Is 75% tint worthwhile? (PA)

Hi folks,

I have been thinking about getting some tint, I've never had it on a car before, but I think it would be nice to have a bit less glare from other cars at night and a bit less heating from the sun in the summer.

PA darkest allowed tint is 75% on sides and rear, nothing on the front, and I want to stay legal.

Does anyone have 75% tint? Does it even make a difference? Any pictures of your car with it? Do you think it was worthwhile?

No your car already has tint from the factory (whether you realize it or not). In our state if you want tint in the terms of what you are thinking when you say tint, then it is most certainly illegal. You are rolling the dice on whether or not you will get pulled over for it. You should be fine but considering the car if you go really dark chances are you will get pulled over at some point.

I don't even think I've heard of 75% tint to be honest.

75% would barely make a noticeable difference. Depends on where you are, window tints aren't always enforced. I'm in Philly area and have 30% all around. Haven't been citied yet, even when I was pulled over for speeding.

Cops usually over look it if you're curtious about it. Like roll down your windows before he walks up, turn on your interior lights at night goes a long way. If they can see you as they're approaching they usually won't care.

^those.
if that's what is legal there then it's not worth the hassle or the paranoia. I drive with my windows down all the time. I was stopped once and given a warning. I don't plan on removing my tint until I get a fix it ticket which is bound to happen and then I will get it done at the legal limit in MD (32%or35) I'm at 5%. It looks great, but is totally not practical.

Youre only going to get pulled over at limo tent. 35% and you may get pulled over once in 10 years. also, some muni's enforce more than others. Downtown cities are enforced often. Out where i live, yea not gonna happen. Tint so you can clearly see inside the vehicle.

I have 15% Tint all around with the windshield banner and never been bothered with cops at all and they've seen me. The BRZ is my first tinted car also. Trust me either go 50% or darker or don't bother. I recommend going to Grays of Shade. Great job with fair price.

Here in Vegas, just adding the 75-85% tint to the windshield has dropped 15-25* on cars.. It's a specially designed windshield tint, and quite expensive, but I'm sure adding it the other windows would work

I agree with this. It's what I do and it's worked so far for me. Considering the strict tint laws in PA, I would probably get 35%, or 50% if you want to be on the safe(r) side. These are still pretty light and you can still see people through it, so I don't think cops should care too much, unless they're huge assholes.

The legal limit is basically anything that comes from the factory. Neither of two cars I've own (PA tags + Tint) have fail inspect for it. My '11 Si Sedan had 25% on it and BRZ has 18%. I was pulled over and ticketed once going through New Holland, specifically for windows. The officer gave me the choice to pay the fine of get a fix-it-ticket. There are people who have very dark tinted windows who don't get hassled. Its like anything else though, its still illegal and if a cop wants to get you for it they can. If you can deal with the repercussions but don't want anything to dark to draw attention, 35% is a good choice.

I have 35% on my windows. It lets cops see in but is still clearly tinted. Have not been pulled over and have been radar gun tagged at least 30 times in the last 6 months(I drive 80 miles to and from work).

If you'd like to see the % ill share it.
