i just dont get the point of why they developed a new engine between toyota/subaru and arent helping the tuner scene (who this car is meant for) by bringing out the Greddy turbo or Cosworth stroker kits - surely thats what the logo's are there for on the side of the car?

why advertise cosworth parts on an frs if there isnt even any developed for it?

i say its a smart move.. why not something reliable?
say they used a fa20 and it failed at the first drift event? you know how embarrassing that would be? and it would be bad rep for the car

Price is all I care to see now, but I probably won't buy anyways now. If the standard is the same price but has a better navi, to justify the brz having HID, which would you guys rather buy? lol
If the only interior option is those red clown seats, the BRZ

Sweet! I would pay someone to run up and take pictures of the engine bay while nobody's watching. I would rather they work on a kit for swapping an EJ into an FRS than a turbo FA. EJ is a proven engine and FA is still an unkown, and is not looking great for tuning.

brz/frs/gt86 = boxer engine
greddy drift 86 = boxer engine

i see your point, Unfortunatly third party R&D doesn't happen overnight and shops have only recently got their orders of pre-production FRS to play with. Thats the extent of the manufacturers roles in this case for aftermarket support really..providing data or a car early rather than helping them do the work.

Reason for Cosworth ad is the fact that its a cosworth engine sitting in there. Ever seen mopar stickers on a Pro car Nissan? Those ads are for its sponsored parts..not an advertisement for consumer products. They can sometimes overlap but are not the same.

Wow, I finally read through this entire thread! Too bad they didn't announce price today, but I'm not worried. The First 86 program sounds neat, I'm going to try it anyway. Now, it's time to go play some GT5 and drive my Toyota GT-86 on there! LOL

Just a small overfender, nothing too much. I'm not sure why they added that, not that wide/aggressive wheel. Guess just for looks.

Man I can't wait for this to just be released already w/ pricing. I wonder if the FR-S has the different trims. It probably does I just haven't seen it out yet

sure - that makes sense and i get you about the mopar thing but with the cosworth example, they do actually make subaru tuning parts

the ads always do relate to the brand though - it would just have been nice to see the ad's on there because greddy and cosworth plan to actually make fb20 parts

I guess time will tell - as long as tuners are demonstrating what a range of their products do, and that's fine - i dont expect f1 sponsors to be selling me f1 grade parts for my road car - so i guess the same principle goes here

Or you could just tell Scion "Thanks, but no thanks."

You are not forced to buy. If you are selected you have the OPTION to be one of the first 86 before other people can buy the car, that's it.

The front fenders are widen as well. It's a widen body kit front and rear. The front bumper is flared out and the front fenders flare out as well.
