I wish I can get close to those prices, with $1000 off OTD price for me is ~$36k

Got my BRZ Limited from Galles & Davis Subaru (Albuquerque) in last month for $27,700.
OTD was 28,983.

I got the price down over two emails--I used a combination of two buyer programs (TrueCar and Costco) to leverage a price. Luckily, this dealer doesn't add tons of crap on to the car to try to boost the price of the car (paint sealer, pin stripes, etc.).

I didn't get the impression that they were opposed to negotiating, and he said that previously, they were selling at MSRP (up to a month ago), but they've had a couple BRZ's hit the DC-area at local areas, so there's a little bit of leverage to get a lower price, so I'm pretty happy with my price. My dealer also offered 1.79% financing, too, to boot!

You guys are right! Totally forgot about that.

Yes, in almost everything! LOL!

I got mine as a preorder from Capitol Subaru - no break on price except a small discount on the maintenance plan - so MSRP. But so far I've had a great experience with them.

Capitol Subaru was one of the few dealers who would do MSRP even on a pre-order in my area. Off the lot- I'm sure there is a mark-up.

(Edit: Ok this thread claims they aren't marking up off-the lot sales http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=42914 )
Might have to go check them out. Thanks man!

Well said!

Canada really sells cars for a lot more pricier than the USA. Know someone who lives there and bought an 2009 M3. The price was ridiculous compared to here.

My same weapon of choice whenever I go visit a subaru dealership. I will be trying a new strategy, which is just start e-mailing the internet sales guy on the Subaru dealerships that I have not been to.

Anyways, thanks for all the replies guys. As much as possible I want to purchase a BRZ here in the Bay Area, but If it comes down to the wire, I might have to go out of state and go for Clint's offer.

This is really a wonderful forum. Really helpful members here. Cheers to all who have helped me. This is for you guys ---> :happy0180:

I bought from Clint in Colorado, flew in and drove it home to LA. Nothing like breaking in your car driving through beautiful Colorado/Utah. Paperwork with dmv and smog..no problem at all.

Costco Car Buying program is the shit. So is USAA's auto circle/car buying. I used both quotes to get two dealers fighting each other over my business, which even drove up the trade-in value they were offering.

You can not beat internet prices unless you golf with the dealer. I got mine in WA just over invoice, which helps a LOT with sales tax rape here.

When I bought my SRT-4, I got it in Germany from the PX dealer just over invoice as well, tax-free, and paid no use tax when I got my California plates. I forget what the time requirement is now, but you might be able to pull the same thing if you buy in Oregon and keep it registered out of state for 1-3 years.

They are good. But again to help members I'm still priced below them.

Just from my experience, if you have the opportunity to buy out of state, I would probably just fly to pick it up and drive it home. I went with the option to ship and it has taken a little longer than I anticipated. Thankfully I had a good friend that would accept the car while I am on vacation.

However, if I chose to pick the car up and drive it home, I could have had it about a week before I left for vacation. That was about 2 weeks ago lol

No beef on Clint or the dealership, just didn't realize the wait that would be involved when getting the car shipped.

Correct and that is because shipping waits for a full truck load to go to a place.

If its CA, TX, NV, CO goes in about 2-3 days

Yup. Didn't realize that when I ordered. No biggie really. Clint is still by far the best way to go when buying a new ride though!

It also depends on what state you live in and inventory, but yes some of these services like Costco and USAA are great, especially for people who don't know who, or don't want to, negotiate with dealers. That said, I had a better deal on my car negotiating directly with the dealer (I did walk out and went home once and the dealer called me the next day and we made the deal). I just don't get emotional about buying a car. Dealers can smell that from a mile away and break you down.

Also buying my BRZ from Clint

Nobody in Norcal would haggle on a Premium BRZ. If Clint wasn't an option, I'd be driving a Focus ST right now instead of the car I've always wanted :P

(Focus ST is a great car too, I was super impressed with it, but its no BRZ/FRS)

Time to read up on the "how to register a out of state car in California" links in this thread, thanks for that btw

If worse comes to worse, I might have to go for Clint's offer.

Break-in period would be so fun!

Some forum member in this thread mentioned this. My dad told me the same thing as well! Thanks!

Will take your advice man! No shipping for me. Driving home would be fun since it will be also my break-in period. Thanks!

When my mother decided to buy a new car 2 years ago, my brother and I did the same thing. We walked out, dealership called us the following day with agreeing with our offer. LOL!

Clint's still has the best offer after calling and checking out dealerships.

I really don't know how he does it, but none of the dealerships I called and checked out cannot match Clint's offer.
